Has the odd distinction of having played the part of Laertes twice in two famous productions of Hamlet: First in 1970/71 - Played Laertes opposite Ian McKellan's Hamlet for The Prospect Theatre Company - Both UK and European Tour. Then secondly in 1975/76 - Played Laertes opposite Ben Kingsley's Hamlet for The Royal Shakespeare Company's Centenary Season - Stratford Upon Avon and London's Roundhouse Theatre.

He played the part of Hotspur twice for the Royal Shakespeare Company - First in the 1975/76 Centenary Season production of Henry 1V part 1 both in Stratford Upon Avon and at London's Aldwych Theatre opposite Alan Howard as Hal and Brewster Mason as Falstaff - and subsequently in the lengthy 1980 Regional Tour of Henry 1V part 1 opposite David Rintoul as Hal and Alfred Marks as Falstaff.

In 1991 he played the part of Vershinin opposite Vanessa, Lynn and Jemma Redgrave in a successful but controversial Georgian Theatre Company production of Checkov's The Three Sisters both at London's Queen's Theatre and at the Zurich Festival in Switzerland.

In 2002, he played "Antony" opposite Sinéad Cusack as "Cleopatra" in "Antony & Cleopatra", for the Royal Shakespeare Company both in Stratford Upon Avon and at The Haymarket Theatre London. Directed by Michael Attenborough.

In 1984 played Boesman opposite Janet Suzman's Lena in a major revival of Athol Fugard's South African two hander Boesman & Lena at The Hampstead Theatre Club London.

(1970) First ever professional Stage appearance was at Liverpool Playhouse in a production of Shakespeare's Coriolanus in which he played the part of Aufidius opposite Michael Gambon in the title role.

During the 80s worked extensively at the famous fringe venue, The Bush Theatre Club, in London, premiering a number of British and American plays.

(1975) He played Laertes and the fourth player in William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" in a Royal Shakespeare Company production at The Other Place Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England with Ben Kingsley, George Baker, Mikel Lambert, Yvonne Nicholson, Charles Dance, and Bob Peck in the cast. Buzz Goodbody was director.

(1985) Played Captain Grzegorz Piotrowski in The Deliberate Death of a Polish Priest by Ronald Harwood at the Almedia Theatre, London. The play was a dramatized stage reconstruction of the trial of Piotrowski and the three other State Security Officers who were responsible for the kidnap and murder of the Polish Solidarity priest Jerzy Popieluszko in October 1984 in Warsaw. Also in the cast were Jim Broadbent, Brian Cox, Alfred Lynch, John Shrapnel, Michael Graham Cox, Rosamund Greenwood, Kit Jackson, Garfield Morgan, Derek Newark, Roger Lloyd Pack, Struan Roger, Tim Stone, Janis Winters, Tessa Wojtczak. The play was later filmed for Channel 4 Television.
