Watch The Somber First Trailer For Jason Reitman’s Men, Women & Children

19 August 2014 9:33 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Jason Reitman clearly has something to say about our society’s technology addiction. The concept of on-screen identities overtaking off-screen lives has been explored in films like Disconnect and Her, but that the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Up in the Air is the one shaping those ideas in this fall’s Men, Women & Children is certainly cause for excitement.

Today, the first trailer for the dramedy has arrived, revealing a serious and extremely modern take on technology overload. Though there isn’t much by way of plot (and no dialogue whatsoever), the preview is still an intriguing first look which highlights Reitman’s terrific cast.

Emma Thompson, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, Kaitlyn Dever, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ansel Elgort, Dean Norris, J.K. Simmons, Dennis Haysbert and Elena Kampouris all star in Men, Women & Children, which is said to focus specifically on how relationships between parents and their children have been altered by technology. »

Jason Reitman's Tiff movie Men, Women & Children gets first trailer

Emma ThompsonAdam Sandler, Judy Greer, Jennifer GarnerAnsel Elgort, J.K. Simmons, and Rosemarie DeWitt are the men, women, and children unleashing their innermost sexual desires, struggles, and secrets online in the first teaser for Jason Reitman’s dramedy Men, Women & Children.

The film joins Reitman’s past Tiff debuts like Juno and Thank You for Smoking by bowing at this year’s festival.  Like the director’s previous effort, Labor Day, Men, Women & Children is sourced from a novel, and is adapted by Reitman and co-writer Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary).

Not much of the plot has been revealed other than that it sticks to the theme of how the internet and technology has shaped the sexual desires and frustrations of teens and adults in a modern world, which you can clearly see texting, online dating, Tumblr and Twitter playing a central part in the first teaser for the film. »

Men, Women & Children

Director: Jason Reitman

His peachy Labor Day — a human drama about becoming a surrogate, wants and needs  fulfilled become late 2013′s/early 2014′s punching bag for critics, but if you spread out his filmography there are glimpses of sharply written dialogue, and complex characters with his book to film adaptations. Men, Women & Children could definitely offer a spot on, soapy bunch of characters and an Adam Sandler closer to a Punch-Drunk Love type role will certainly draw plenty of onlookers.
