Emmy Awards bosses tricked double-nominee Chandra Wilson into believing she'd been left off this year's shortlist.
The Grey's Anatomy star's name was omitted from a rundown of nominees she was shown before taking to the stage to announce the 2009 candidates on Thursday.
So she was stunned when she discovered she'd picked up two nods for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for Grey's Anatomy and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for Accidental Friendship.
A shocked Wilson tells People.com, "We did the rehearsal ahead of time and went down the teleprompter three times. My name wasn’t there, so I was like, 'Cool.'
"I'd been completely duped."

• Both of last year's series champs -- comedy "30 Rock" and drama "Mad Men" -- lead the field in their respective categories again this year. "30 Rock" broke the record for nominations it set last year with 17 bids by landing 22 nods this year. "Mad Men" repeated with 16 nominations, far off the 27 nods for the first season of "NYPD Blue" in 1994. "30 Rock" won seven of its races last year and "Mad Men" prevailed in six. • After being benched last year because of the writers strike, former Emmy powerhouse "24" made a lackluster return to the race this year, failing to score bids for either series or TV movie ("24: Redemption"). Kiefer Sutherland, who was a fixture in the best actor in a drama series category, was snubbed for the first time in the show's seven years. He had to make do with a nod in the TV movie actor race for the one-off "24: Redemption.

Chandra Wilson and Jim Parsons, who tell our Victoria Recano about their surprise nominations! Chandra says she was "absolutely shocked" by her double nomination -- for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Best Lead Actress in a Miniseries. The nominees for the 61st annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning in Los Angeles by Grey’s Anatomy star Chandra Wilson, Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Television Academy chair John Shaffner. Among the nominees were some past winners, some past nominees and a few who’ve never had the feeling of “Its just a thrill to be nominated.”
The real surprises were the nominations of both Family Guy and Flight of the Conchords in the “Outstanding Comedy” category, the nomination for Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog in the “Outstanding Special Class – Short-format Live-Action Entertainment Programs” category (Say that three times fast) as well as the 22 nominations for 30 Rock, which is an Emmy record.
A rules change expanded the number of comedy, drama and key acting category nominees from five to six for which intensified the competition for those extra slots. Ties in the voting actually

It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.
Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.
MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.
Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as

Since the EMMYs have 2,741 categories, we only focus on two things: first, how our favorite shows did and second, which big screen stars other than La Pfeiffer (she's always there with her television kingpin husband) will show up. Which of them got nominated for their small screen sojourns whether longform or more movie-like?
Speaking of which...
Drew Barrymore on the set of Going the Distance
Yes, you, Drew. But you knew she knew (everyone knew) that her affecting work in Grey Gardens as "Little Edie" was going to make the grade. "Big Edie" Jessica Lange also won a nomination for the narrative feature based on -- but also sort of jumping off from and commenting on -- the famous beloved documentary of the same name. I hope to have an interview with their director here soon.
Before we get to the rest of the big screen folks, here's the nominees

The nominees for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced today in Los Angeles, and the show to garner the most nods was 30 Rock, which received a record 22 nominations for a comedy series. With the Emmys expanding their number of nominees from five to six in certain categories, some new shows were finally able to get some recognition, although a few big shows were still overlooked in their final seasons: most notably The Shield and Battlestar Galactica. There are a ton of categories so I only included some of the major nominees below. For the complete list visit the Emmy Awards official website [1]. What do you think of the nominees? Did any of your favourite shows get left out? What are the biggest oversights? 30 Rock rules the Emmy Nomination Roost this year with an astounding 22 nominations. I won't be able to look at a winged woman holding a giant atom without thinking of Tina Fey. On the drama side of things, Mad Men made it's mark with a whooping 16 noms, bringing its total to a ridiculous 32 nominations since it entered contention. To give you an idea of how awesome the Emmy folks think Mad Men is, it is the only show nominated for Outstanding Writing besides Lost, which snared a single nomination in the category. Now, for the major 2009 Emmy Nominations, and our reaction.

Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey's hit comedy 30 Rock is leading the charge for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards after landing a whopping 22 nominations.
The show will defend its title as Best TV Comedy for the third year running, against Entourage, Weeds, Flight of the Conchords, the U.S. version of The Office, How I Met Your Mother and Family Guy. The animated series' inclusion is the first time a cartoon has been shortlisted for the prize since The Flintstones in 1961.
30 Rock's leading stars will do battle in the male and female categories for the best comedy actor awards. Hollywood star Baldwin is up against the likes of Steve Carell (The Office), Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), while Fey is competing with Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program), and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds).
Meanwhile, Mad Men has scored 16 nods, including Best Drama Series - which it won last year - and Best Lead Actor, Drama for Jon Hamm and Best Lead Actress, Drama for Elisabeth Moss.
Hamm is nominated alongside actors such as Dexter's Michael C. Hall, Simon Baker for The Mentalist, and Hugh Laurie for medical series House; and Moss will face stiff competition from Glenn Close (Damages), Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters) and Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), among others in her category.
House and legal thriller Damages are also in the running for Best Drama Series.
In the TV movie categories, Drew Barrymore's Grey Gardens - in which the actress plays Jackie Kennedy-Onassis' reclusive cousin 'Little' Edie Beale - garnered 17 nominations, with the star receiving recognition for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. The HBO film is also up for the prizes of Outstanding Casting and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Special for moviemaker Michael Sucsy, in addition to a number of technical awards.
And there was praise for actress Chandra Wilson, who announced the nominees on Thursday morning with Jim Parsons. She was named alongside Barrymore in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie category for her role in Accidental Friendship, while her turn in Grey's Anatomy earned her a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out on 20 September at a ceremony in Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre and will be presented by Neil Patrick Harris.

The Emmy noms are out. Chandra Wilson and CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" actor Jim Parsons announced the major category nominees for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards. The list is heavily populated with predictable old standbys and seriously lacking in the true best of smallscreen efforts from the last year. "30 Rock" was trotted out for 'best comedy' as was Tony Shaloub for his obsessive "Monk." Nice to see HBO's "Grey Gardens" net noms for the leads, Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange. I hope Drew takes the award. Even Daniel Baldwin did a great turn in that effort. Lacking was recognition for FX's brilliant new drama, "Sons of Anarchy" and Denis Leary's always hilarious and poignant,

Los Angeles (AP) — Tina Fey's satire-rich sitcom, "30 Rock," received a leading 22 Emmy Award nominations Thursday, while the '60s retro series, "Mad Men," led the drama pack with 16 bids. The shows were honored last year as best comedy and drama and have a chance to repeat the performance at September's awards. The TV movies "Grey Gardens," with 17 nominations, and "Into the Storm," with 14 nods, were among the front-runners. Chandra Wilson of "Grey Anatomy's" and Jim Parsons of "The Big Bang Theory" helped make the announcement at the TV academy's theater — and both proved to be...

Chicago – The 61st Annual Emmy Nominations were announced today and there were a few surprises, a few disappointments, and a variety of unusual choices. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences displayed a desire to move forward with some first-time nominees, mostly ignoring some tired staples like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Desperate Housewives,” but also missed some arguably deserving choices.
The Best Drama and Best Comedy categories expanded to seven nominees this year, which allowed for a wide variety of networks to claim a “Best” nominee.

The nominees for Best Drama are “Big Love,” “Breaking Bad,” “Damages,” “Dexter,” “House,” “Lost,” and “Mad Men”. The refusal to give in to pressure to nominate the last season of “ER” is nice and its hard to argue with too many of their actual choices, but HBO’s great “In Treatment” needed to be in that seven and “True
