The Lrm Interview: Director Gavin O’Connor on the Action-Thriller, The Accountant

11 October 2016 8:00 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Filmmaker Gavin O’Connor has had a lot of ups and downs in his career, at least in terms of his films getting a proper release, but he’s still managed to establish himself as a director that actors want to work with, whether it’s Edward Norton and Colin Farrell for his crime drama Pride & Glory or Natalie Portman in the Western Jane Got a Gun.  Probably O’Connor’s strongest genre to date though has been his popular sports films, Miracle and Warrior, which go into the world of Olympic hockey and mixed martial arts, respectively.

O’Connor’s latest movie The Accountant is an action-thriller starring Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff, known in the criminal circuit as “The Accountant,” not just for the mathematical skills he’s able to use for laundering money, but also for the efficiency with which he takes down the targets he’s hired to eliminate. »

From Flushed Away and Hunchback to Titan A.E. and Sky High - the family movies that don't get the love they deserve...

When I sit through a film such as Zootropolis, Rango, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Eddie The Eagle or Coraline, I can’t help but be thankful somebody has bothered. As a parent as well as a movie lover, I’ve grown to really dislike family movies that just turn up to act as a surrogate babysitter for 90 minutes, with no intention of becoming anybody’s favourite film. The films I'm going to talk about are the family movies therefore that I think both try and do something a bit more, yet continue to fly under many people's radar.

A bonus mention before we get going, and number 26 in the list, much to my surprise: Alvin & The Chipmunks 4. I was expecting next to zero from it, courtesy »

After making waves with her debut feature Dharm which bagged the National film award and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, acclaimed director Bhavna Talwar has a force to reckon with. Her next feature, a major International production, which is an adaptation of the much-loved children's Book 'Heidi' has begun its second schedule in Spain, following the UK Schedule and stars heavy weight actors such as Bill Nighy, Mark Williams and Helen Baxendale among others. While Talwar is all set to make her mark internationally, she has chosen to work with a core Indian crew, including noted cinematographer Binod Pradhan and Action director Sham Kaushal, in addition to her core creative team. "Cinema is a universal language and I know and our production company has worked closely with Shamji and Binod, it was not just about the comfort level but also the fact that they are world class talent. 42, The Power Of Three, Dinosaurs On A Spaceship and more - the Doctor Who work to date of the show's next showrunner...

Who is Chris Chibnall? You might know him as the creator of Born & Bred, Law & Order: UK and Broadchurch amongst others, but as readers of this site, it's more likely that you know his scripts from Doctor Who and his tenure as head writer of Torchwood. On Friday, the BBC announced that Steven Moffat will be stepping down as the showrunner of Who after next year's tenth series (since its revival), to be replaced by Chibnall in 2018.

Over the weekend alone, there has already been a lot written and said in speculation about what the new show-runner, Doctor Who's third since Russell T. Davies combined the roles of head writer and executive producer when he revived the series in 2005. I, for one, welcome our »

As with every January, speculation is rampant over potential future WrestleMania locations. Around now is the time where WWE let us know where the following year’s Mania will be held.

Recently, we heard rumours that WWE were eyeing Florida once again as a potential Mania location, returning to the Sunshine State after the successes of WrestleMania 28 (The Rock’s return vs John Cena, Undertaker vs Hhh Hell in a Cell) and WrestleMania 24 (Edge vs Taker, Flair’s retirement match vs Shawn Michaels).

Now comes word from F4WOnline (via Lop) that Los Angeles is being discussed as a potential home for a WrestleMania in the coming years. With this rumour, next year’s WrestleMania 33 is not specifically being mentioned, just rather that La could be a potential location soon.
