Fear The Walking Dead Actress Edwina Findley Lands Recurring Role On Black Lightning

13 October 2017 8:13 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The cast of The CW’s Black Lightning series has grown by one today, as Deadline brings word that Edwina Findley has secured a recurring role opposite Cress Williams.

Best known for her involvement in AMC’s companion series, Fear The Walking Dead, Findley will play the part of Tori, the “beautiful and cunning younger sister to Tobias Whale (Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III). Tori’s charming nature is just a facade as she can be just as deadly as Tobias, an exciting threat to the people of Freeland.”

Salim Akil, showrunner and executive producer on Black Lightning, is clearly a big fan of Findley’s casting, telling Deadline that “Edwina is a fantastic talent, and I am so excited she is joining us.”

Anchored by Jefferson Pierce (Williams), Black Lightning tells the tale of a retired crime-fighter who is unknowingly thrust back into the spotlight as a wanted vigilante.

Black Lightning Casts Krondon As Tobias Whale

10 August 2017 11:40 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Just when I thought The CW’s prime time lineup couldn’t sustain yet another DC TV show, the first trailer for Black Lightning premiered a few months ago and I thought to myself, “yeah, there’s room for one more.” Combining striking visuals that Greg Berlanti’s superhero series have become known for with real world sensibilities, it should definitely make for some compelling television.

But like any of these shows, it’ll need the right big bad in order to make it work. Not long ago, we learned that none other than Tobias Whale would be the one to cause headaches for Cress Williams’ Jefferson Pierce throughout the inaugural season and today, we can finally put a face to the menace.

As it turns out, rapper Marvin “Krondon” Jones III will be the one to inhabit the role of Whale, whom executive producer Salim Akil said possesses “authentic »

The CW’s latest show in the Arrowverse has found its villain for Black Lightning. Rapper Krondon, whose real name is Marvin Jones III, has been cast as the villainous Tobias Whale in the series.

Whale is an African-American who suffers from albinism and is the leader of the street gang, The 100, Freeland’s most powerful gang. Tobias was formerly a politician, rising up the ranks of local government through corrupt and illegal means  until he was brought down by Alvin Pierce, Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning’s father. In retaliation, Tobias murdered Alvin and went into exile, secretly rebuilding his empire and becoming the leader of the feared gang. When Jefferson becomes Black Lightning once again, it forces Whale to return as well in a desire for revenge against Black Lightning.

“I was excited about Krondon when I saw his audition. He’s going to make a great Tobias,” executive producer Salim Akil said. »

That Black Lightning revolves around an African-American family is “the least interesting” about The CW’s midseason superhero series.

As showrunners Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil (Being Mary Jane, The Game) proceeded to note during their and the cast’s visit to TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite, the title character’s daughters will face their own battles as Dad (played by Cress Williams) gets drawn back into the costumed crimefighting game after a 10-year hiatus.
