7 May 2012 11:26 AM, PDT | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

A few months ago we tracked down ten of our favorite celebrities from years past to see what they we're up to. We were in the mood to reminisce further, so today we're happy to bring you ten more!

Also, CBS' vehicle for Pee-wee Herman (alias Paul Reubens), "Pee-wee's Playhouse," lands the Pop Culture Award; Keenen Ivory Wayans' Fox sketch comedy "In Living Color, »

27 April 2012 6:50 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

It's not every day that TV icons like the cast of "Laverne & Shirley," Kelly Ripa and Fran Drescher gather in one place. But these pros were brought together for the 10th anniversary of the TV Land Awards (taped in early April, airing Sun., April 29, 9 p.m. Et).

This year, "Laverne & Shirley," "Murphy Brown," "In Living Color," "One Day At A Time," Aretha Franklin and Pee-wee Herman were all honored. "Live! With Kelly" host Kelly Ripa returned to host the awards for a second time, citing her love of TV as a reason she said accepted the gig again.

"I am a child of the '70s, so for me, television was it," she told The Huffington Post on the red carpet at the TV Land Awards. "That's what we had. These characters were our lives and I get excited still. I'm still excited seeing Faith Ford as weird as that sounds. »

Penny Marshall on Whitney Houston: 'She was a great girl'

3 April 2012 5:26 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Penny Marshall deems the recent death of Whitney Houston a "very sad" loss.

"She was a great girl, and we got along fine," the television star turned movie director tells Zap2it about guiding the singer-actress through the 1996 musical drama "The Preacher's Wife" opposite Denzel Washington. "She sang beautifully, but like a baseball player doesn't pitch every day, you had to schedule certain things at certain times. You have to take the actors into consideration."

Marshall also took the use of Houston's vocal talents seriously: "I went to her mom's church in Newark [N.J.] and I went to Denzel's church out here [in Los Angeles], and we auditioned choirs. I had never done anything with music of the current time, because most of the movies I did were period pictures. 'Awakenings' was, certainly 'A League of Their Own' was, and so was 'Riding in Cars With Boys.'"

'Laverne & Shirley's' Cindy Williams: Ron Howard, Penny Marshall were destined to direct

28 March 2012 3:10 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Cindy Williams didn't doubt two of her best-known co-stars would become well-known filmmakers.

The actress played Ron Howard's girlfriend in the 1973 movie classic "American Graffiti," then worked with him again on the ABC sitcom "Happy Days" ... which yielded the hugely successful spinoff "Laverne & Shirley," teaming Williams with Penny Marshall. Still good friends, the women will reunite when their enduringly popular show gets the Fan Favorite honor at the TV Land Awards, to be televised by the nostalgia-driven network Sunday, April 29.

"Ron kept jumping out of the car during 'American Graffiti' and talking to Haskell Wexler, the cinematographer," Williams recalls to Zap2it about making the George Lucas-directed ode to teen life circa 1962. "He'd get back in the car -- we had no dressing rooms, so we'd sit in the car between takes -- and I'd ask him, 'What are you doing?' And he'd say, 'I'm »

23 High School Movies That Get The Passing Grade

15 March 2012 1:17 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Considering it's where most of us (bar the weird home-schooled kids) spend our crucial formative years, where we have our first fights, our first loves, our first tentative steps into adulthood, it's no surprise that high school has long been a popular setting for movies. A range of genres (though generally leaning towards comedy) have taken place in those hallways, particularly from the 1980s onwards, when John Hughes, among others, made an entire career out of the lives and loves of 15-18 year olds.

The latest film to head back to class is "21 Jump Street" (review here) the big-screen reboot of the '80s TV show, which stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as youthful-looking cops who are sent back to high school in order to bust a drug-running ring. While you might assume this to be another lazy remake, you'd be very wrong, as Tatum, Hill, co-writer Michael Bacall, »
