I know we’re never supposed to judge a book by its cover, but we do whether consciously or not, and I certainly did with this one. Just look at it: a semi-naked woman with a piece of cloth barely covering her lady parts, squatting(!), with the title “Monster Massacre” overhead. It’s like an 80s hair metal band cover for an album of songs about drinking behind the bleachers, staying out past curfew and not doing your homework – the stench of adolescence is unfortunately all over this anthology of short comics based around monsters.

Which isn’t to say it’s all bad – put your best foot forward as they say, and this book does just that with a classic comic by legends Jack Kirby and Joe Simon called The Angel of Death. It’s about a small town menaced by a monster in the night and has smatterings »

Louis Smith, Seb Coe for 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' special

Strictly Come Dancing champion Louis Smith and Seb Coe are among the celebrities taking part in a new Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? special later this month.

Chris Tarrant will challenge three famous faces to raise cash for charity with the help of a special friend.

Coe will partner up with his former sporting rival Steve Cram, while Louis Smith is partnered by his coach Paul Hall.

Actress Sally Lindsay will be joined by drummer Steve White.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to participate in Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? with Crammy and raise money for the PSP Association," said Coe.

Titan Comics has announced the return of A1, the award-winning anthology series by Dave Elliott. Hitting stores on June 5th, A1 is a new monthly series featuring three fantastic ongoing strips: Weirding Willows, Odyssey, and Carpe DIEm.

Titan launches comics imprint with new series including Chronos Commandos and Thrud the Barbarian

Titan Publishing has announced a comic book initiative that aims to provide a platform for fresh talent and ideas.

The company, which has been a purveyor of comics, graphic novels, fiction and licensed publishing for over 30 years, has launched Titan Comics.

The aim is "to offer readers the best new stories from new and established comics creators - and offering those creators a great deal to bring their stories to a worldwide audience."

From editorial to design, Titan Comics will help creators shape their ideas into the best comics possible, while they retain full rights over their creations and intellectual property.

The imprint launches in July 2013 with two creator-owned miniseries and four brand-new collections, with a new series beginning each month afterwards.

These include the debut of Chronos Commandos: Dawn Patrol by writer/artist Stuart Jennett (Marvel UK); newly coloured Numbercruncher by X-Men: Legacy writer Si Spurrier and 2000Ad artist P. »
