Taylor Swift Pokes Fun at Herself In "New Girl" Finale

15 May 2013 6:40 AM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

Taylor Swift knows she has an image that's all rainbows, kittens and love -- and on last night's finale of "New Girl" she made fun at herself in a pretty hilarious way.Warning: Big finale spoilers ahead! The final episode of the season revolved around Cece's (Hannah Simone) wedding to Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), but after interruptions from a wild horse, a rabid badger and the tune "Cotton-Eyed Joe," the two didn't end up going through with it.Of course, it wasn't all the unwanted interruptions that made them call it off, but Cece's feelings for Schmidt (Max Greenfield). But Shivrang had a surprise of his own waiting in the wings -- his secret girlfriend Elaine (Swift)."Oh Shivy, I've loved you since the first grade," Swift yells after popping up in the audience. "And I'm so lonely that I just lie awake at night and write about you in my »

'New Girl' Season 2 finale: 'Cotton Eyed Joe,' un-calling Jess and Nick, and a badger beat the wedding in 'Elaine's Big Day'

14 May 2013 7:59 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"New Girl" may have just given its viewers one of the most satisfying season enders in history with its Season 2 finale episode, "Elaine's Big Day." It had everything! A wedding -- and a relationship -- broke up in spectacular fashion. Jess and Nick kissed before riding off into the night. There was a huge guest star in Taylor Swift. A badger played a major role.

What more could anyone want?

Does this mean "Cotton Eyed Joe" is Jess and Nick's song?

Who would have expected that a silly -- but catchy! -- song would be the thing that destroyed Cece's wedding but simultaneously cemented Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) as a couple? Because they are most definitely a couple now.

It was touch-or-go for a bit, of course. Jess didn't want to have anything to do with an immature Nick who would play pranks to disrupt a wedding. »

Emmy rebound for '30 Rock' scene-stealer Jane Krakowski?

9 May 2013 5:19 PM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

Has Jane Krakowski's Emmy luck ran out? Or will the final season of "30 Rock" be the charm? After netting three consecutive bids in the race for Comedy Supporting Actress (2009, 2010, 2011), Krakowski was snubbed last year for her extremely popular role of Jenna Maroney on the long-running NBC comedy. Last year's six nominated supporting players were Julie Bowen ("Modern Family"), Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory"), Kathryn Joosten ("Desperate Housewives"), Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family"), Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie") and Kristen Wiig ("Saturday Night Live"). Only four of these women are eligible in this category again this year, as Wiig is no longer a regular on "SNL" and Joosten passed away. Might Krakowski re-claim her position in this crowded field? According to Gold Derby's Experts, Editors and Users, Krawkowski will return to the Comedy Sup »

'New Girl' recap: Daddy issues, henna mistakes and Schmidt's crazy dance in 'Winston's Birthday'

7 May 2013 8:56 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Winston's Birthday" is not a "New Girl" episode about Winston (Lamorne Morris). Not surprisingly, this most-neglected of roommates remains neglected, even though it is indeed his special day. But that's what happens when everything else happens all at once.

What exactly was more important that Winston having a birthday?

Jess and Nick and Bob

"Winston's Birthday" picks up only a few hours after the last episode left off. Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) are still in bed and still pretty darn happy about their sex. Nick even gets up to make Jess breakfast! She doesn't have to eat the soft pretzel that shared the bed with them!

Unfortunately for the new lovers, Jess' dad, Bob (Rob Reiner), picks this morning to show up unexpectedly for Cece's wedding. Jess manages to hide her recent indiscretion, but a sudden job opportunity leaves Nick alone with Bob for a day.

'New Girl' preview: 5 things to know about 'Winston's Birthday'

7 May 2013 12:32 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The "New Girl" episode called "Winston's Birthday" isn't really about Winston's birthday. Not directly anyway -- so much happens on that single day that Winston (Lamorne Morris) kind of gets a little lost in the shuffle. Think "Sixteen Candles."

Note: If you've never seen "Sixteen Candles," a) what's wrong with you, and b) you might want to get on that before watching this episode.

Want to know more about "Winston's Birthday"? Check out these five "New Girl" spoilers.

1. "Winston's Birthday" begins with the morning after Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) do the deed. Fortunately for both of them, Jess is not dead.

2. Nick is a guy who has a soft pretzel in his bed. Keep that in mind as you observe what he prepares for a "romantic" breakfast.

3. Schmidt's college -- and recently rediscovered -- girlfriend Elizabeth (Merritt Wever) has thin walls in her bedroom and a neighbor »

Question: Do you have anything particularly scandalous about the season finale of Scandal you can share? —Daniela

Ausiello: I see what you did there. Scandalous. Scandal. Clever. I may steal that for next week’s AA. In the meantime, conventional wisdom points to the elusive mole being unmasked in the May 16 finale. Kerry Washington, meanwhile, points to it being the person you’d least expect. “It’s so shocking,” the actress tells us with a huge, hearty laugh. »

The Tuesday Playlist: Funny Ladies, ABC's Knox Exclusive, Grimm's New Night

30 April 2013 7:22 AM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

Everyone's losing it — or more to the point, remembering how they lost it — on one of this season's more uproarious episodes of Fox's New Girl, a reminder of just how potent the comic chemistry can be between Zooey Deschanel and her BFFs when they all hang together, sharing embarrassing stories (some more mortifying than others) about how their "innocence" (such as it never was) was stolen. This episode (Tuesday, 8:58/7:58c) will be especially enjoyable for fans of Max Greenfield's Fat Schmidt slapstick and for those who've been waiting for Lamorne Morris' Winston to emerge from the sidelines and get some major Lol action. Jess (Deschanel) starts the trip down Painful Memory Lane with glimpses from Prom Night, which brings suitors including Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien (Stiles!) into her life. But it's Winston's grotesque hook-up and Fat Schmidt's messy night in college with the girlfriend who »

TV Review: ‘Remember Sunday’

18 April 2013 7:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

In entertainment terms, the absence of short-term memory clearly has multiple uses, from the Nolan brothers’ twisty “Memento” to the Adam Sandler comedy “50 First Dates” to now “Remember Sunday,” a Hallmark Hall of Fame romance built around a similar (if more shamelessly romantic) premise. Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) plays a man who becomes a virtual blank slate every morning — the burning question being whether his condition will be an impediment to a relationship with the winsome Molly (Alexis Bleidel). Thanks almost entirely to the leads, it works on an emotional level, if only for those willing to short-circuit their brains.

At its core, the movie (written by Barry Morrow from a story by producer Michael Kase, and nicely directed Jeff Bleckner) probes a familiar romantic conundrum: Is it possible for love, that intangible bond Hallmark has built a greeting-card empire upon, to overcome the hurdles and cruel breaks life can throw its way? »

'Nurse Jackie' Season 5 review: New direction a letdown after a standout season

14 April 2013 6:26 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

(Warning: The following "Nurse Jackie" Season 5 review contains minor plot spoilers and a few general storyline details not revealed in the season premiere. We're not trying to give anything away, but proceed with caution if you're spoiler sensitive.)

After a season in which Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" redefined itself as essential viewing, anything less is going to feel like a disappointment. And while recovering addict Jackie still hasn't relapsed at the beginning of Season 5, her series is taking several steps backwards.

Season 4 started with a bang: Jackie's marriage was in pieces, she voluntarily entered rehab, her best friend Dr. O'Hara (Eve Best) was pregnant and her colleagues were thrown for a loop by All Saints' aggressive and arrogant new administrator Mike Cruz (Bobby Cannavale). The season took off from there, making brilliant use of every member of its ensemble to tell a terrific arc about personal and professional turmoil and »

TV Reviews: Showtime’s ‘The Big C,’ ‘Nurse Jackie,’ ‘The Borgias’

12 April 2013 7:15 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Although Showtime vaulted into rarefied air with its Emmy win for “Homeland,” the channel continues to offer a spate of shows that clearly have admirers and boast billboard-worthy stars but amount to utility players, failing to reach cable’s elite tier. Two of those, “Nurse Jackie” and “The Borgias,” return April 14, while “The Big C” has been granted the TV equivalent of a dignified death, with four hourlong episodes to conclude the series. A new showrunner hasn’t changed “Jackie” — worth recommending for Edie Falco and not much else — while “Borgias” proves that even papal intrigue and debauchery can grow tiresome.

So if there’s one worth discussing, it’s “The Big C: hereafter” — not because it works, but because the ways in which these episodes fall short illuminate how a promising premise can go wrong, squandering a provocative idea. Even so, credit Showtime with committing to this limited run, »

'New Girl': A night of fighting, photography and self-discovery in 'Bachelorette Party'

10 April 2013 12:24 AM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The wedding of Cece and Shivrang is fast approaching on "New Girl," which means of course it's time for Jess to throw her best friend a bachelorette party. So she does. Naturally, it does not go according to plan.

I could recap this episode in great detail. But there is nothing that I could write that would be better than what "New Girl" already said. Instead, you're going to get a summary and a whole bunch of quotes from "Bachelorette Party."

What happened

It turns out that Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang's (Satya Bhabha) wedding is only three weeks away, so Jess (Zooey Deschanel) plans a bachelorette party for her best friend. This is a) because Cece has wanted a crazy party since childhood and b) because Cece has not yet asked Jess to be her maid of honor.

In order to pull this off, the guys have to kidnap »

Fox’s New Girl welcomes Wever when her character reunites with Schmidt, confirmed TV Line. Just how does the reunion come about? Well, there are still about 3 months worth of season three episodes left. We’ve seen Schmidt attempt any number of things in hopes of winning Cece back into his arms. It just ain’t working. Jenna-Louise Coleman isn't bolting the Tardis anytime soon. The actress has signed on for Season 8 of "Doctor Who."

Coleman, who first appeared in the Season 7 premiere and later remerged in the "Doctor Who" Christmas special, plays Clara, the Doctor's latest companion, replacing Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith is heading to the Us to film a new movie, meaning there will be a bit more of a gap between "Doctor Who" Season 7 (which returns on Saturday, March 30 at 8 p.m. Et on BBC America) and Season 8.
