Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee reception

25 May 2012 5:01 AM, PDT | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

Britain's Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Diamond Jubilee by hosting a star-studded reception. The 86-year-old monarch - who has been on the throne for 60 years this year - met hundreds of leading cultural figures at the glittering event at London's Royal Academy of Arts where the 850 luminaries paid tribute to her dedicated service. Among the guests were Dame Judi Dench, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Emma Thompson and U2 frontman Bono. Fashion designer Vivienne - who rose to fame in the punk era - said she had changed her view about the monarchy since the 1970s. She said: 'At one time I thought the queen represented all the political hypocrisy of England. I realised they're above politics. I »

Diane Kruger Sparkles At Cannes: Is This Her Best Look Ever?

21 May 2012 10:16 AM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

The stylish star really outdid herself when she turned up in my favorite dress yet -- and she completed the look with vintage earrings, a present from Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld! Did you love it as much as I did? You would think after debuting so many gorgeous gowns and fun frocks the looks would all start to blend together, but that clearly isn't the case for Diane Kruger! The star, who has yet to take a night off from grand glamour at the Cannes Film Festival, totally outdid herself when she turned up and stunned in a sparkling Vivienne Westwood gown. Didn't she look like a total screen siren? She finished off her look at the Amour premiere, pairing the gown with a Jimmy Choo clutch and vintage diamond earrings -- a gift from Karl Lagerfeld! The fully-sequin gown really accentuated her waist, thanks to a built-in corset. With her hair swept to one side, »

Kristen Stewart’s ‘Swath’ Look: She Wears A Crop Top & Neon Pumps

21 May 2012 7:53 AM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

The star looked so trendy in her latest get-up -- did you like her look? Kristen Stewart has showed off a slew of dresses while promoting Snow White and The Huntsman, but for her latest appearance at the photocall in Mexico, the star opted for separates that really stayed consistent with her personal sense of style. Wearing grey Vivienne Westwood Anglomania pants, she kept the look edgy pairing them with a cropped Marios Schwab top. K-Stew kept the look youthful, edgy and fun pairing her separates with a neon pair of Christian Louboutin pumps. I love the way they made her whole ensemble pop! Kristen looked cool and confident, and considering that the look was so consistent with her style I'm not surprised. While it may not be a sexy mini, I absolutely love this look on Kristen. Do you agree? Katrina Mitzeliotis »

Diane Kruger Glows in Gold With Joshua Jackson at Cannes

20 May 2012 1:32 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

A little rain didn't stopped the glamorous happenings at the Cannes Film Festival in France today. Juror Diane Kruger hit the red carpet for the premiere of Amour in a sequin Vivienne Westwood gown with Joshua Jackson by her side. He helped shield the rain by carrying a large umbrella, which the two posed beneath. Diane and Josh have been busy during their stay in the south of France and have already attended the Calvin Klein party and the Haiti: Carnival benefit. They didn't pop up at last night's Vanity Fair and Gucci bash though Salma Hayek, Naomi Watts, and Jennifer Connelly were on hand for the fun. There's still a week left of Cannes excitement, so make sure to follow PopSugar on Twitter for the latest at all the events! View Slideshow › »

Helena Bonham Carter's Quirky Shoes Led To Fashion Campaign

8 May 2012 12:06 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Helena Bonham Carter was hired for a Marc Jacobs campaign after she impressed the designer by wearing mismatched shoes on the red carpet.

The Alice in Wonderland star was mauled by fashion critics after she dared to step out at the 2011 Golden Globes wearing one red and one green high heel with a Vivienne Westwood gown.

But Jacobs was a fan of her kooky look and immediately booked her to appear in his Fall/Winter advertising campaign, which was shot by iconic fashion photographer Juergen Teller.

She tells Interview magazine, "I thought, 'F**k it.' I looked at the dress and I thought, 'It's not gonna be well received, so let's just distract...' (The Jacobs campaign) was a result of those two shoes. Marc said, 'Let her wear different shoes.'

"Juergen Teller is a great photographer. He's brilliant... You know what was great with Juergen? He's so fast. We just put some music on and just dance (sic). I've been photographed now (so) long that I sort of feel like I've done all of the expressions... I don't want to become hyper-aware of what looks good because it can be creative if you've got a great photographer. It's a relationship. It's very sexy. It's like having a dance with somebody." »

The British Council has launched a campaign to promote its long-running Realise Your Dreams competition, which aims to foster creative collaboration between creative industries in the UK and Australia.

The scheme is aimed at “emerging leaders working in the creative industries, primarily aged 18 to 35 who are savvy, culturally switched-on, talented, educated and ambitious,” according to a press release.

The campaign, created by design agency Boccalatte, centres on an animated Tvc, which is also being promoted online as a viral video.

The campaign uses quirky imagery and iconic British creative figures, including Vivienne Westwood, Noel Fielding & Stephen Fry and Damien Hirst’s famous formaldehyde-preserved cow.

The primary colour palette was, according to Boccalatte’s press release, inspired by Dr Seuss. Entrants can follow the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #RYD2012. The promotion will also include radio and print executions.

Helena Bonham on Her Often Criticized Style

4 May 2012 7:35 AM, PDT | TheInsider.com | See recent The Insider news »

Helena Bonham Carter continuously finds herself on worst dressed lists thanks to her famously eccentric style, but in a new candid interview with her Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe for Interview magazine, she reveals some of the thought process that goes into her wacky wardrobe choices.

"All I'm into is dressing up. I love dressing up. It's like what we do for our job, get paid to dress up. So I carry on doing it in life, and I do put on a bit of clothing, and the clothing changes how I feel," she explains.

And surprisingly, she reveals that she isn't immune to the harsh criticism she's often subjected to.

"I think I transform into somebody else, and then you see the photo and go, 'That's so not what I meant ... ' It's the disappointment after. That's why I ceased to watch myself anymore because I go, 'It's still me!'"

Claire Danes White House Correspondents’ Dinner: Sleek Or Sloppy?

30 April 2012 2:59 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

The 'Homeland' actress attended the star-studded soiree in a striking Vivienne Westwood dress. Do You love it or loathe it? As the Golden Globe Award-winning star of President Obama's favorite television show, Homeland, no one was surprised to see Claire Danes step out for the 2012 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on April 28. What did have people talking, however, was her odd dress choice! For the occasion, the naturally gorgeous 33-year-old went with a white Vivienne Westwood satin dress with an asymmetrical halter neckline. She wore her hair down and added a pop of color to her look with bright red lipstick. Frankly, we're not loving Claire's look. Not only was her curve-hugging dress draped across her body in all the wrong places, but her hair looked a little on the limp side -- not to mention the extra fabric at the neckline! What do You think of Claire's look? »

Charlize Theron, Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan & Co. Attend The White House Correspondents’ Bash

30 April 2012 3:29 AM, PDT | TheFabLife - Movies | See recent TheFabLife - Movies news »

The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner has really become the hot ticket in town. We already know that Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan got invites, for which they were probably very thankful. Now if only they had dressed with gratitude. We’re definitely not saying that no effort went into putting their looks together. It was just all directed the wrong way for both of them. Lindsay’s black satin halter-necked gown and Kim’s heavy green satin version ended up looking tacky. Sorry, ladies, better luck next time. This was Kim’s second time at the event so she should’ve known what to expect. There were plenty of sartorial winners, though. Charlize Theron, as always, nailed it in an Emilio Pucci lace overlay column with Manolo Blahnik heels and a Judith Leiber clutch. Reese Witherspoon was glam in a black Monique Lhuillier gown and stunning turquoise and emerald drop earrings by Irene Neuwirth. »

Ozwald Boateng: does my head look big in this?

9 March 2012 4:07 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

He changed the face of Savile Row and rescued his business from bankruptcy. But no one is more convinced of his brilliance than Ozwald Boateng himself

The rules of fashion are a mystery to me. Endlessly changing, apparently arbitrary and frequently contradictory, they seem to defy all logic – but if one common purpose can unite them, it must be the creation of image. The fashion industry doesn't fabricate clothing so much as artifice – and so you would expect a documentary about Ozwald Boateng to resemble a Mario Testino fashion shoot, less reportage than breathless homage to the designer's imperiously elegant reputation.

A Man's Story therefore came as such a surprise, I had to watch it twice. It opens with the sort of marital shouting match most of us wouldn't want witnessed by our closest friends, let alone anyone else, and invites us into a private world of calamity – a bankrupt business, »

2012 Oscar Metallics: Are Rose Byrne And Anna Faris Morphing Into Each Other?

Do Rose Byrne and Anna Faris have the same stylist? They look like twins on the red carpet! Even their hair is almost the same length and style. Both remarkably slender ladies wore similar gowns, although Rose’s Vivienne Westwood shows more skin than Anna’s Diane von Furstenberg. We do love us some black sequins, and even though she’s all covered up, Anna’s Dvf has our vote.

Their gowns are indicative of another ubiquitous Academy Awards red carpet mainstay, and the 2012 Oscars had quite a few examples of it. Sequins! Beading! Gold Embroidery! They’re all part of the metallic trend we so love. Whether it was Octavia Spencer‘s cream Shoji, Jennifer Lopez‘s Zuhair Murad or Stacy Keibler’s gold Marchesa, we had plenty to fawn over. We were quite captivated with Judy Greer’s unusual Monique Lhuillier in black and silver as well. »

Oscars Red Carpet Early Arrivals: Milla Jovovich, Berenice Bejo And Cruelty-Free Worms

The big stars are just beginning to arrive at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, and we’re chomping at the bit to see who will shine and who will totally flop on the red carpet tonight. Just to get things warmed up, let’s take a look at the ladies who either couldn’t wait to get there, or whose publicists really wanted to assure them lengthy interviews (while all the reporters are just biding their time until Brad and Angie and George and Stacey show up). It’s the first Oscars for some, like Milla Jovovich, though you wouldn’t tell by the way she’s killing it with a dazzling sequined Elie Saab. Sequins seem to be the early trend — they’re also a big feature on Rose Byrne’s Vivienne Westwood and Ellie Kemper’s Armani Prive. Berenice Bejo is also wearing Elie Saab, but she chose beading over sequins. »
