Not Safe for Work: First look at Zawe Ashton in new Channel 4 series

Get a first look at Zawe Ashton in Channel 4's new drama series Not Safe for Work exclusively on Digital Spy.

The six-part workplace comedy - previously known as Cut - will air later this spring.

Fresh Meat's Ashton stars as the mercurial Katherine, who is recently divorced and troubled by secrets in her past.

Relocating from London to Northampton to join the Immigration Pathway department, Katherine discovers that her problems may only just have begun.

Sacha Dhawan, Tom Weston Jones, Jo Hartley, Sophie Rundle, Samuel Barnett and Anastasia Hille will also star in Not Safe for Work.

The series has been created and written by DC Moore, a former star of Channel 4's new talent strand Coming Up.

The Paradise cancelled by BBC One after two series

BBC One has confirmed that it has cancelled The Paradise.

The period costume drama will not return for a third series, the broadcaster said in a statement.

"We are incredibly proud to have made two successful series of period drama The Paradise for BBC One," said a spokesperson.

"However, in order to make room for new dramas to come through, The Paradise won't be returning."

The Paradise - written and created by Bill Gallagher - was adapted from the classic French novel by Emile Zola and starred Emun Elliott, Joanna Vanderham and Ben Daniels.

Launched in September 2012 with 6.61m, the series premiered its second run in October last year to 6.04m.

The series finale, airing on December 8, pulled in 5.07m.

The Paradise is returning to BBC One, with one new arrival certain to ruffle a few feathers - Ben Daniels (House of Cards, Law & Order: UK) is Tom Weston, Katherine's "cruel", "toxic" yet "charming" new husband.

Ahead of series two's debut on Sunday night, Digital Spy spoke to Daniels to find out what drew him to The Paradise department store...

The BBC has a strong reputation for period drama, so was working on The Paradise something you leapt at?

"Not because it was a period drama but because of the role - the description I was given of him. Bill Gallagher wrote to me and said, 'I'm thinking up a new character and I'd love you to play him - this is who he is'.

'The Paradise' series two starts filming, Ben Daniels joins cast

The Paradise has begun shooting its second series.

Ben Daniels (House of Cards, Law & Order: UK) will join the BBC One period drama as Tom Weston, an enigmatic former soldier who is now married to Katherine (Elaine Cassidy).

"Tom's a fascinating animal and will certainly be ruffling a few feathers (and silks!) along the way," said Daniels. "I'm really looking forward to the next few months of filming."

Other new cast additions include Lisa Millett (Five Daughters) as bawdy but kind-hearted cook Myrtle, Katie Moore (Merlin) as Susy, Edie Whitehead as Tom's daughter Flora and Adrian Scarborough (Upstairs, Downstairs) as Fenton.

Joanna Vanderham (Denise Lovett), Emun Elliott (Moray), Matthew McNulty (Dudley), Sarah Lancashire (Miss Audrey), Stephen Wight (Sam) and Sonya Cassidy (Clara) will all reprise their roles for series two, which is set one year after the first run.

Another Ken Follett Epic Comes To The Small Screen

Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon and Oscar nominees Miranda Richardson and Peter Firth have joined the cast of the epic limited series “World Without End,” the sequel to “Pillars of the Earth.” Also signing up for the eight-hour medieval period drama are Ben Chaplin, Charlotte Riley, Rupert Evans, Megan Follows, Nora von Waldstaetten, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Tom Weston-Jones and Sarah Gadon. Michael Caton-Jones is directing the entire $44 million event series, which is based on Ken Follett’s bestseller of the same name. Tandem Communications and Take 5 Productions are producing, in co-production with Galafilm and in association with Ridley and Tony Scott’s shingle Scott Free Films.

Michael Caton-Jones Directing "World Without End"

Actors Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, Charlotte Riley and Tom Weston-Jones have been cast for the upcoming $44 million TV mini-series "World Without End", a Canadian co-production from Take 5 Productions, Galafilm, Tandem Communications and Scott Free Productions.

The sequel to author Ken Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth", the adaptation will start July 11, 2011, shooting in Hungary and Austria, for director Michael Caton-Jones ("Rob Roy").

"World Without End", set in the same fictional town of 'Kingsbridge' as 'Pillars of the Earth', follows the descendants of major "Pillars" characters, two centuries later, incorporating historical events of the start of the 'Hundred Years' War' and the 'Black Death', during the reign of 'King Edward III'.

World Without End – Pillars of the Earth Sequel – Cast. Starz Not Locked in.

There’s some good news coming from Deadline if you enjoyed the Starz miniseries, The Pillars of the Earth, because the sequel, World Without End, will soon be headed to your TV.

The $44 million eight-hour miniseries is being adapted by John Pielmeier, the same guy who handled the script for Pillars of the Earth, so there’s no doubt the project is in good hands. Tandem Communications, along with Scott Free Prods, Take 5 Prods. and Galafilm is producing the Michael Caton-Jones-directed miniseries that’s based on Ken Follett’s novel.

An all-star cast has already been lined-up, with a roster that includes Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, Charlotte Riley, and Tom Weston-Jones. The sequel takes place 200 years after Pillars of the Earth and revolves around a community that rises up against the massive taxes being piled on them by the king and church.
