Scandal Casting News Falls 'Short': "Scandal" was in the midst of a mini casting scandal this week, when a report claimed that Columbus Short's character, Harrison Wright, would be replaced by "World War Z" actor Eric West. Show creator Shonda Rhimes channeled her inner Olivia Pope and squashed the report, Tweeting, "I've never heard of Eric West. Harrison is not being recast Ever. Hgtv was planning on airing a new house-flipping show, Flip It Forward. However, following a revelation by Right Wing Watch that the proposed show’s hosts had a history of religious bigotry, stalking an abortion doctor and anti-gay activities like protesting pride celebrations. Hgtv has cancelled the show.
Let’s start with the good news. Despite rumors that Fox might give in to the powerful influence of producer Seth MacFarlane, Fox has decided to cancel the offensive, unfunny Dads. Unfortunately, there’s also bad news — the promising and endearing Enlisted (also the Chris Meloni sitcom Surviving Jack, which inspired strong feelings in few people). In worse news for comedy, the network also passed on two promising-sounding pilots, Dead Boss and Fatrick. Fatrick reunited Ray Ford with Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Kajhan. Dead Boss was a remake of a British comedy with Jane Krakowski and Amy Sedaris. »

A major scandal hit Scandal this week. On Wednesday, May 7, Deadline reported that Columbus Short's Scandal character, Harrison Wright, would be recast following his departure. The entertainment publication reported receiving a press release, claiming that Eric West (World War Z) would be replacing Short, 31. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes took to Twitter on Wednesday evening, to shoot down the rumors and call out Deadline for spreading the story. "I've never heard of Eric West," Rhimes wrote. "Harrison is not being recast Ever. How about reporters Check Their Sources before [...] »
An insider told Uinterview exclusively that Rimes and company have been quick to replace Short and have selected West for the job. “Note to all,” a memo allegedly read from a Shondaland employee to members of the show’s cast and crew. “Eric West will be replacing Columbus.”
It’s uncertain as to whether West will take over Short’s role of Harrison Wright or if he will be playing an entirely new character in Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) team of gladiators. Currently, the Gladiators only include Pope, Huck, Quinn and Abby.
