Brad Pitt Discusses Potential Plans for World War Z Sequel

9 September 2013 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Back in June word was that a sequel was being planned for this years big hitting horror release 'World War Z'. Over the weekend Brad Pitt appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival and discussed a little more about the potential follow-up. 'We're certainly talking about it, yeah.' said Pitt. 'We have so many ideas on the table from just the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work. We have so many ideas and so much information, we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from. We're going to do our best and see what we get out of it.' 'World War Z' is based on the novel by Max Brooks and the feature adaptation released earlier this year starred Pitt alongside Mireille Enos ('The Killing'), Eric West, James Badge Dale and David Morse »

Original Ending for World War Z Revealed and Yes... It Did Kind of Suck

25 June 2013 12:01 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Sometimes reshoots are for the better. That is definitely the case with World War Z. Movies.com has provided a complete breakdown of the film's original ending, and to say it's different is a bit of an understatement.

Apparently the pivotal point where the reshoots took over was the plane scene. In the original film:

The plane did not crash as it does in the theatrical version. Gerry (Pitt) and his Israeli comrade, Segen, land in Moscow, where his phone (the link to his wife, Karin, and family) was taken away and he was forced to join the Russian Army against the zombies. Months pass, and Gerry is now a zombie-killing machine. Gerry's unit is tasked with clearing subway tunnels of zombie hordes. 24 June 2013 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

New blockbuster zombie flick 'World War Z' has managed to score an impressive opening weekend and notched up a huge $111+ million in box-office takings. So it comes as no surprise that the Max Brooks adaptation will be getting a sequel. Vice chairman Rob Moore over at Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the Summer hit will be sequelised just a few days after star and producer Brad Pitt hinted at the fact that more 'World War Z' could be on the way. Originally planned to be a trilogy the idea for such a vision was quickly halted after the various production problems that the movie faced but now the money is rolling in it looks like these plans could be bought back to the table. Paramount Confirms World War Z Sequel in the Works

23 June 2013 8:47 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

With World War Z scoring big at the box office, earning a very respectable $66 million in North America and $45.8 million from its first 25 foreign markets, Paramount is celebrating its victory by planning more!

THR reports that World War Z initially was envisioned as a trilogy, but those plans were shelved when the movie ran into trouble, requiring extensive reworking of the last act. Initially set to open in December 2012, the movie's release date was pushed back to June, prompting many in Hollywood to anticipate a blood bath. Given the bank the film is currently making, Paramount has revived plans for a sequel, proving yet again that the undead are truly unstoppable.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, World War Z star Brad Pitt seemed pretty optimistic regarding the possibility of more films based on the Max Brooks novel of the same name. The question is: What kind of talking will the box office do this weekend?

"There is enough [content] to mine from the book," says Pitt. "We could barely get a fraction of the book in. So we'll see. We'll see."

Prep for World War Z with this Look at the Evolution of the Zombie

20 June 2013 1:38 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

From most accounts World War Z is more action flick than horror movie so we thought we'd take a quick look back at the "Evolution of the Zombie" from 1932's White Zombie all the way up to today's offerings like Wwz and Warm Bodies.

The below video was compiled by Film.com, and from slow and shambling to insanely fast and everything in-between, it shows how Hollywood’s favorite horror movie monster has changed throughout the years. Along with the films mentioned above, represented here are such classics as Night of the Living Dead (1968), Zombie (1979), Return of the Living Dead (1985), Cemetery Man (1994), Shaun of the Dead (2004), and Zombieland (2009) along with many others. It's a sweet walk down memory lane for us fans of the undead.

They’re Coming: New Clip From ‘World War Z’

17 June 2013 2:31 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

The zombie hordes are finally unleashed in this intense third clip from director Marc Foster’s adaptation of Max Brooks’ acclaimed apocalyptic novel, World War Z. The summer survival blockbuster sees Brad Pitt lead as Gerry Lane, a United Nations employee forced into globe-hopping to find the origin and answers to the undead pandemic that is turning into race-against-time to save mankind.

The film is receiving mixed critical response that all seem to agree, it has it has genuine intensity to it but the lack blood and gore (in order to please the studio and secure a lower rating/certificate) has an effect on the overall film. These flesh-eaters are more a force of nature than the brain-munching monsters so synonymous with George Romero.

World War Z is released in cinemas this Friday, the 21st June and co-stars Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, Eric West, David Morse, David Andrews and James Badge Dale. »
