Liev Schreiber and Taye Diggs join My Little Pony movie

Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) and Taye Diggs (Murder in the First) have signed on to the voice cast for the upcoming My Little Pony animated feature film, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

The duo join a star-studded cast which sees Tara Strong, Cathy Weseluck, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain, and Ashleigh Ball reprising their voice roles from the TV series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic alongside the likes of Emily Blunt (Into the Woods), Kristen Chenoweth (Glee), Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black) and Michael Pena (Ant-Man).

Jayson Thiessen is directing from a script by Meghan McCarthy, and the film will open on October 6th, 2017.

‘My Little Pony’ Movie Release Moved Up to October 2017

Lionsgate has moved its “My Little Pony” movie forward from November 3, 2017, to Oct. 6, 2017, and dated Woody Allen’s “Cafe Society” for a July 15 limited launch.

My Little Pony” will open against Warner Bros.’ untitled “Blade Runner” sequel, an untitled Warners “event movie” and an untitled Fox-Marvel title.

Emily Blunt and Kristin Chenoweth are voicing new characters with the “Mane 6” characters voiced by Tara Strong, Cathy Weseluck, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain and Ashleigh Ball.

Jayson Thiessen is directing from a screenplay by Meghan McCarthy, writer and producer of the “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” animated series.

The story centers on Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity embarking on a journey beyond Equestria, where they meet new friends and challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home.

The pic is being produced by Stephen Davis and Brian Goldner for Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures. »

Emily Blunt will voice a new character in the animated “My Little Pony: The Movie.”

Blunt joins Kristin Chenoweth, who is also lending her voice to a new character, with the “Mane 6” characters voiced by Tara Strong, Cathy Weseluck, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain and Ashleigh Ball.

The Hasbro and Lionsgate film will hit theaters worldwide on Nov. 3, 2017.
