How did Deadpool, a subversive superhero movie made by Fox for just $58 million, gross an astounding $132 million on its opening weekend and, by the end of its theatrical run, $363 million domestically and $783 million worldwide, making it one of the biggest hits of 2016? One reason was publicity and, accordingly, its PR campaign, orchestrated by 20th Century Fox was hailed with Maxwell Weinberg Publicist Showmanship Motion Picture Award, recognizing it as the year’s best in the film arena at the International Cinematographer’s Guild’s 54th annual Publicists Awards luncheon. NBC’s This Is Us won the equivalent TV honor.

Fox’s “Deadpool” topped “Sausage Party,” “The Secret Life of Pets,” “The Jungle Book” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” for the Maxwell Weinberg publicist showmanship motion picture award. “Deadpool” was a massive surprise hit with more than $700 million in worldwide grosses and a campaign that stressed Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed comic performance — along with lying on a bearskin rug.
‘Deadpool,’ ‘Jungle Book,’ ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Nominated for Publicists Award
NBC’s “This Is Us” won over “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” and “Speechless” for the TV award.

But whether it was for the last time is still up in the air at the end of Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 Episode 17.
Gray, first unveiled on Hawaii Five-0 Season 7, Episode 4, had been a Machiavellian, behind-the-scenes character, getting serial killers to kill for her.
So it was an intriguing change of pace to have her stumble into Hpd with bloody hands, claiming to be a tourist from Wisconsin with amnesia.
This naturally fooled no one within Five-0, who knew her true identity. Especially McGarrett, who is probably still angry that she blew up his pickup. After all, cars are his to destroy.
The interesting twist is when the blood comes back as a partial match to Alicia Brown, the profiler that was kidnapped along with McGarrett by Gray.
Alicia was found alive, and clueless, by McGarrett and Grover. So the question became "What was Gray's end game"?
“The Late Late Show with James Corden,” “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” “Speechless” and “This Is Us” received nominations for the TV award. Debra Birnbaum, Variety‘s executive editor of television, was nominated for the press award.
The International Cinematographers Guild will announce the winners at the 54th Annual Icg publicists awards luncheon to be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb. 24. Honorees previously announced include Denzel Washington, Ryan Murphy, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Bwr founding partner Nanci Ryder.
