Prolific songwriter who won 11 gold records. He also wrote "There She Is", the theme song of the annual Miss America pageant.
For several years was the artists and repertory director at 20th Century Fox Records, where he produced the soundtrack recordings for "Zorba the Greek" and "Patch of Blue".
Was best known for the hit song "Blue Velvet".
