(And not Platinum Dunes hands. Whew!) There are a batch of these titles that we were fortunate to get an early look at, so I’ll make mention of that as we get to them and let you know if they get the official Icons Seal Of Approval. My Top 10 Best Movies of 2012! Check Out Runners-Up, Dreaded Worst!

28 December 2012 7:46 AM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

2012 was a great year at the movies. I could easily create a Top 20 list so it was very hard to narrow it down to just the 10 best. But after many hours of tinkering, I finally came up with my Top 10 Best Movies of 2012. See my list below (video below too!), plus the runners-up and the dreaded worst films of the year! Oh, and for the first time, "Twilight" was not on my worst!

1. .Argo. . Ben Affleck creates a riveting political thriller that is as emotionally potent as it is funny. The script by Chris Terrio ably captures the tension of the Iran Hostage Crisis and the cast is game to offer levity. Simply the best film of the year.

2. .Les Miserables. . The film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical about the Paris Uprising of 1832 is a sweeping epic with a melodramatic flair. Hugh Jackman carries the film from start to finish as Jean Valjean, »

Top 7 Films of 2012

28 December 2012 7:00 AM, PST | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.

It was a really good year. I went to Cannes for the first time ever. I went to Fantastic Fest for the first time ever. I went to SXSW for the fourth time … ever, but finally stayed for the musical festival. More importantly, it was a great year for films even if you remove all of the festivals. Normally I have a tough time deciding on a Top 7 (or Top 10) because there aren’t enough films that definitely should be on the list. This year, I have 21 films that I loved, or at least really, really liked. The 21st film, that just barely made the cut? The Avengers. Again, it was a really good year.

Top Ten Movies of 2012

26 December 2012 8:30 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Deciding on the "best" films of any particular year is never an easy task, especially depending on how seriously you take that task. On the final page of this list of my top ten films of 2012 I've included links to my previous top ten lists from the years 2003-2011 and while the majority of the films on those lists remain favorites of mine, it's quite evident how much more seriously I take this process from one year to the next, not to mention how many more films I actually see each year. Going through the list of films I saw in 2012, I was pleased to see how much easier I found it to come up with movies I considered candidates for my top ten. Two thousand and eleven offered several good films, but I had a hard time making a list of ten I considered "great". This year, from numbers »

This Is The End Red Band Trailer: Michael Cera Is Dead

21 December 2012 2:39 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

As I sit here in my “I Survived The 2012 Apocalypse” T-shirt laughing at the Mayan calendar (which some lazy dude probably stopped writing when he got far enough), Seth Rogen and James Franco have given me another reason to laugh at the apocalypse – a hilarious red-band trailer for their new end of the world themed film.

What started as a short film/trailer titled Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse has now been blown up to a scale 20x grander, featuring all the celebrities pictured above – plus many more – facing the apocalypse supposedly after a party at James Franco’s house. Titled This Is The End, how can you not be excited for this horror comedy featuring some of the funniest people in the business right now?

Introducing the first official red-band trailer are Rogen and Franco, joking around in James’s bunker while preparing for the Mayan apocalypse that was supposed to happen today. »

This Is the End Red Band Trailer Brings the Mayan Apocalypse

21 December 2012 10:35 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

According to the Mayan calendar, the world is ending on December 21st, 2012. That's today! Seth Rogen and James Franco are particularly bummed about this, because their new comedy, This Is the End, doesn't come out until next summer. Ironically, the film is about the apocalypse. And you won't ever get to see it. Transmitting from James Franco's bunker, located somewhere in Hollywood, the two actors, who play themselves in this comedy, have decided to share the first, and most likely last, look at this R rated, star-studded doomsday tale with the Red Band Trailer. Watch as the Earth comes to its rousing conclusion, with just a few modest comedic actors left to carry on the legacy of mankind.

Seth Rogen’s directorial debut and apocalypse comedy, This is the End, will hit theaters next summer, and the first teaser trailer has premiered just in time for the actual apocalypse. The storyline is very similar to what’s been rumored to play out tonight: an end-of-the-world party hosted by James Franco gets interrupted by the actual apocalypse. In addition to Franco, Rogen will be joined by his usual collaborators, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel and Paul Rudd, as well as some new faces like Emma Watson and Rihanna—who will all be playing fictionalized versions of themselves. Video: Seth Rogen's 'This Is The End' Trailer Is Just As Good As You Thought It Would Be

21 December 2012 6:46 AM, PST | Filmology | See recent Filmology news »

Usually when you first hear of a star-packed film, (Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve) you get a little nervous that it will be cheesy and forced. But thankfully, because of Seth Rogen's involvement, his next film This Is The End won't be anything like that. (We think!) The red band trailer for his latest project is out now, and the amount of star power he has lined up in the credits is insane. From Jonah Hill, James Franco, to Emma Watson, the movie looks like an immediate hit. And that's not just because the actors are playing themselves in it.

Check out the video below and let us know what you think. The first minute with Rogen and Franco is hilarious just on its own.

It’s the end of the World as they know it… and they aren’t feeling fine, by the looks of things. Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill and Craig Robinson are joining forces with an incredible host of cameos such as Emma Watson, Michael Cera, Aziz Ansari, Rihanna, Martin Starr and Jason Segel for this hilarious apocalyptic caper. Focusing on six friends trapped with each other during a series of unfortunate events happening all around Los Angeles, they find themselves desperately falling out with each other until they are forced to embrace the outside world.

Trailer Simon Brew Dec 21, 2012

Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill and more join together for an end of the world comedy, This Is The End...

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who have between them penned scripts to the likes of Green Hornet, Superbad and Pineapple Express, are putting the finishing touches to their directorial debut, This Is The End.

It's a fun premise for the film, with lots of famous people playing themselves. The movie is centred around a party at James Franco's house, attended by the likes of Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Emma Watson, Jay Baruchel and Jason Segel (there's a Rihanna cameo in there too, apparently). However, mid-party, the impending apocalypse stares them all in the face, and by the sounds of this red-band trailer, fatalities ensue.

It could be really good fun this one. The film isn't due out until next summer (and was »

Watch Craig Robinson In Red-Band Trailer For 'This Is The End'

Since tomorrow is supposed to be the end of the world, according to the Mayan calendar, what's more appropriate than this just-released trailer for the comedy film, This is The End, scheduled to come out next summer, on June 14th?. Provided we're still around... The film is definitely a low budget, home made affair directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen who stars in the film, along with a bunch of his buddies, including James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Michael Cera, Jason Segel,  Emma Watson and Craig Robinson. Being the single black guy in the film, no doubt there are certain to be jokes about if he'll make through the end of the film or »
