Vote for the biggest surprise from the past season, while getting scoop on what’s to come in season five.
From the moment Elena (Nina Dobrev) first bore her fangs, we knew The Vampire Diaries‘ fourth season was going to be something special. Relive the 10 biggest shockers of season four, and get the latest season five spoilers. Just think: There’s more of this madness to come!
1. Elena & Stefan Break Up
We’ve seen this play out before, but that was all a show for Katherine. This time, it was really for real — and it resulted in a super-weepy, unappealing Stefan (Paul Wesley) for most of the remaining season.
2. Elena & Damon Have Sex
Before the experience was ruined by news of the alleged sire bond, this was the show’s hottest hookup ever. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena made that entire mansion their bitch, and an endless number of gifs were born. »

Note: Do not read on if you have not yet seen the Season 4 finale of The CW's "The Vampire Diaries," titled "Graduation."
"The Vampire Diaries" finale closed some doors, but opened a lot of other ones. Stefan (Paul Wesley) is in a safe at the bottom of the ocean after Silas revealed to the younger Salvatore brother that he is his doppleganger and pushed him off a cliff; Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) confessed their love for one another; Bonnie (Kat Graham) brought Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) back from the dead, but now she's officially a ghost; Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Caroline (Candice Accola) shared a tender moment; Katherine (Dobrev) is now a human after Elena shoved the cure down her throat; and Matt (Zach Roerig) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) finally kissed and planned a summer vacation far from Mystic Falls.

So... Bonnie is permanently a ghost. Jeremy is alive. Delena is a go. Mebekah is a fling. And Stefan is Silas' doppleganger?!?
Yes, The Vampire Diaries Season 4 finale gave our Round Table team a great deal to chew on. So let's open up wide and take a few bites, shall we?

What was your favorite scene from the finale?
Matt: Alaric and Lexi sitting around, drinking and talking. I seriously love those two - both the characters and the actors behind them - and may have toasted the TV screen with a bourbon-filled tumbler as I fought back tears.
Leigh: When Klaus told Caroline his gift was letting Tyler come back because Tyler was her first love... and he intends to be her last. Wow. Who knew »

Believe it or not, Julie says we’ll actually get to see Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) “happy” for a little while in season five. Yes, you read that right: happy!

New Vampire Diaries season 5 spoilers already dished out by producer. Recently, Zap2it immediately got right down to business, getting new season 5 spoiler teases from Vampire Diaries Executive Producer, Julie Plec. It turns out that we're going to see Katherine still trying to act like a bad girl even though she no longer has any vampire powers,Bonnie will still show up quite a bit,and more. To start it off, Julie mentioned a few things about actor Paul Wesley, being happy to play the whole Silas doppelganger role, stating, "He is so happy. Playing the straight man hero is not always the most exciting job for an actor, and Stefan, of all our heroes, is the straightest on the show. We get to go deeper into his ripper side sometimes, but for Paul, those moments are just pocket moments of opportunity to dig deeply into his craft, and a »

Note to Sheriff Forbes: Can we get better protection around the water sources of Mystic Falls? They are causing major problems for some of your daughter's best friends.
First, Elena plunges off a bridge and into eternity as a member of the undead on last year's season finale.
Now, in "Graduation," Stefan is locked inside a safe and pushed into what appears to be an impenetrably soggy grave because Silas reveals his true self to be the doppleganger of this Salvatore brother, the shadow self created because nature needed a balance to the witch who created an immortal curse.
Allow me to repeat that again, using the capital letters it calls for: Stefan Is Silas' Doppleganger!!!!!
Holy game-changing cliffhanger, Julie Plec. You have most definitely done it again.
Until the wholly unexpected concluding scene, The Vampire Diaries Season 4 finale centered more on matters of the heart than matters of the »

After this game-changing fourth season finale, nothing — and no one — is ever going to be the same in Mystic Falls.
Before I start talking about the May 16 season finale of The Vampire Diaries, I need to offer this disclaimer: I’m just as confused as the rest of you, as the final two minutes of this episode blew my mind into tiny little pieces. Yes, Elena (Nina Dobrev) chose between the brothers, someone got the cure — but there was another twist waiting in the wings that I never saw coming…
Stefan Is A Doppelganger?!
Yeah, you read that right. With Silas turned to stone, Stefan (Paul Wesley) took his body to the lake, intending to bury him at sea for good. But that’s when Silas revealed that, not only is he very much alive, but his true form is actually Stefan! Apparently Silas is the one who created the »

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched The Vampire Diaries season finale, stop reading now. Update: Our full recap is now live. But here’s a quickie.
The cure: It went to unwilling recipient Katherine. Elena shoved it in her mouth right as Katherine was about to rip Elena’s heart out at the end of their epic brawl in the school hallway. We’d thought Stefan had the cure: Elena had given it to him, after Damon gave it to her. But then flashback to Stefan returning it to Elena because everything he’d done this season was to get it for her. »

"The Vampire Diaries" has done it again.
Going into tonight's Season 4 finale, "Graduation," we knew a few things would happen: The gang would graduate, in a poignant scene that celebrated their history together. Elena would, once again, make a choice between Stefan and Damon. One character who had previously died would return from the dead. And, of course, we knew that someone would take the cure for vampirism and turn into a human. But while we were busy asking who would get the cure and who would spend the summer making out with Elena, we kind of forgot about another season-long mystery: Why won't Silas let anyone see his real face?
The slight of hand gave us one of the most jaw-dropping finale twists ever... and it was just one of many. We spoke with executive producer Julie Plec about what sort of fall-out to expect from some of the »

Spoiler Alert: Do not read any further if you have yet to watch the season finale of The Vampire Diaries. There are major spoilers ahead, so if you can complain, we will enclose you in a box and send you off the sea. The rest of you can carry on... Best. Season. Finale. Ever. Seriously, every other show should just give up after seeing The Vampire Diaries' season-four finale, which may have just redefined the word epic. Not only did one of our beloved vamps turn human (Rough twist, Katherine!), but it turns out Elena (Nina Dobrev) isn't the show's only doppelgänger: Stefan (Paul Wesley) is big bad Silas'! Oh, and Elena chose to be with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is alive »

‘The Vampire Diaries’ stars united to promote the upcoming fifth season of their show in NYC — and they both looked incredible.
Elena and Damon may be facing hell on the May 16 season finale of The Vampire Diaries, but their portrayers – Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder – were the pictures of perfection on the black carpet at The CW Upfront presentation earlier that day in New York City.
During the actual presentation, Ian and Nina joined CW President Mark Pedowitz on stage to help introduce the network’s new crop of original programming.
Despite Ian and Nina’s recent breakup, the stars couldn’t have been friendlier with one another, putting on a great show for everyone in attendance.
