Josh Brolin For Mib 3?

8 December 2009 10:12 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

File this one strictly in the "rumour' category for now, but The LA Times is reporting that Josh Brolin is being considered for a role in Men In Black 3. It's still early days, and the film itself is still very much at the development stage (no actual greenlight yet), but it has Tropic Thunder's Etan Cohen writing a script and Sony is hoping to grab Barry Sonnenfeld to direct again. For now though, there's fun to be had speculating on who Brolin could play: he's a possible replacement for K should Tommy Lee Jones decide he's too old/grumpy/busy for all that alien hunting nonsense and would make a suitably different partner for Will Smith's J (again, assuming Smith agrees to return). And as the Times points out, J spent some of Mib II with other partners (including the awesome Patrick Warburton) before Jones' character came out of retirement. »

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson talks Shazam! and Captain America

18 November 2009 3:45 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Dwayne Johnson, the former professional wrestler known as The Rock, has long been linked to a role in the film adaptation of the DC Comics' title Shazam!

The comic is named after the magic word - an acronym of the names of six legendary figures from the ancient world - uttered by teenager Billy Batson to transform into the adult superhero Captain Marvel.

Johnson was at one point in talks with Shazam! director Peter Segal (Get Smart) about playing the villain Black Adam, who has the same powers as the hero. Patrick Warburton was the actor linked to the lead role.

Johnson told Moviefone he's still interested and 'would love to' take on the Black Adam role in the Warner Bros movie.

Speaking at the premiere of new animated movie Planet 51, he said: "We have talked about that for such a long time. I am not quite too »

Fantastic Fest: Day Four - Swedish Sci-Fi, Revenge, Truffles, and Terry Gilliam

30 September 2009 12:46 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Day Four marks the halfway point for Fantastic Fest, and I’ve already seen two of the best films of the festival so far. That really makes me wonder what they’re going to close things out with. There was Secret Screening #3 on Sunday, and it turned out to be Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and not the Michael Jackson concert rehearsal footage film, This Is It, as everyone expected. Personally, I think we got a good deal. We were able to enjoy Gilliam and Michael Jackson in the same evening… due to the Michael Jackson Dance Party held at midnight.

With only two Secret Screenings left, speculation is running rampant about what they might be. I’ve heard everything from Kick-Ass to Sherlock Holmes to The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Okay, New Moon was tongue-in-cheek; Let’s hope they don’t try to kill us with shock from something like that, »

Interview with Liz Vassey

7 September 2009 9:31 PM, PDT | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

Liz Vassey won a Daytime Emmy at the tender age of 18, thus throwing her already busy acting career into overdrive. With gigs ranging from Beverly Hills 90210 to Tru Calling, the stunning brunette cites a brief cameo on Joss Whedon's internet musical, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog as one of her most cherished roles.

These days, when Vassey isn't peering at DNA patterns as Wendy, the forensic technician on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, she's hoping for a return to musical theater and touting her ta-ta's for a very good cause.

AfterEllen: How are things on CSI? What's in store for Wendy Simms this season?

Liz Vassey: I don't really know, but I'd love for her to go out in the field more. In one episode, I went out in the field for the first time with Laurence Fishburne. He's just fantastic and could not be nicer. And I got to swab John Schneider, »

Candy Land, Monopoly, Battleship and Stretch Armstrong Updates

10 August 2009 7:34 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Well the 2009 summer movie season is over for Hasbro and it has been financially successful. Transformers 2 has milked the entire world economy of over $800 million dollars, while G.I. Joe managed to drain the globe of $100 million this past weekend.  So what does that mean for Hasbro their future releases?

Well Steve “Frosty” Weintraub over at Collider managed to catch Brian Goldner, President and C.E.O of Hasbro, before a special screening of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and got some interesting answers about a few upcoming projects: Stretch Armstrong, Candy Land, Battleship and Monopoly.

.

Stretch Armstrong

First up is Stretch Armstrong, the toy no one played with (seriously do you know anyone that owned one when you were a kid?). According to Goldner, Stretch will be the first movie released out of the lot, with a planned release of 2011. Now I know what you are thinking, »

[DVD Review] Morning Light

18 June 2009 10:00 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

The process of determining which sports will translate into great films has no real rhyme or reason. If you thought that only fast-paced sports like soccer or football could be made into sports (Goal!, Any Given Sunday), then you’d have a hard time explaining all the successful films based on baseball or golf (Field of Dreams, Caddyshack). What sports films of the past have taught us is that even films about running (Chariots of Fire) can be superb with the proper balance of plot, character and wit. Well, Disney certainly loves the promise that holds and has started cranking out sports movies as fast as possible. Up until this point however, most of them (Iron Will, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Remember the Titans) have been narrative based. For Morning Light Disney went ahead and made a Reality TV formatted film about sailing and, well, the results are mixed. »

Adapt This: ‘The Adventures Of Dr. McNinja’ By Chris Hastings

19 May 2009 9:03 AM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

There’s been no shortage of comics jumping to the screen lately, but there are still a lot of great stories out there flying below Hollywood’s radar. In this recurring “Adapt This” feature, we’ll take a look at comics that merit attention from filmmakers — and offer some thoughts on why (and how) they should be brought to the screen.

The Story: “The Adventures of Dr. McNinja” by Chris Hastings

What It’S About: Hastings’ long-running webcomic, which is also available in print collections, follows the exploits of Dr. McNinja — a doctor who also happens to be a ninja. Faced with the contradicting responsibilities of healing and killing, McNinja (his first name is never actually given) fights crime and cures the sick alongside his mustachioed 12-year-old sidekick Gordito Delgado, his raptor Yoshi, his assistant Judy (a gorilla) and a clone of Benjamin Franklin.

Men in Black 3… Yes, It’s Happening

2 April 2009 7:31 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

It has been rumoured [1] for years, but at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas this week, Sony finally revealed that they are officially working on a third Men in Black film. Details are still scarce at the moment; in fact, it hasn't even been officially confirmed that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will return. However, I think we all know how pointless it would be to make Men in Black 3 without them. All that has been said so far is that the movie is likely going to be targeted for a summer 2011 release alongside Spider-Man 4. I know a lot of people were really let down by Men in Black II, but I had a good time with it. Patrick Warburton in particular was a great addition to the cast. Either way I don't think it matters how well part 2 was received, because as long as Will Smith is involved, »

AFI Dallas: Patrick Warburton's Rock Slyde

1 April 2009 1:32 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

I like Patrick Warburton, a lot. So I sort of wish he hadn't shown up to the premiere of his new comedy at AFI Dallas, because there's nothing more uncomfortable than sitting a few rows in front of the film's star and not laughing, not even once. I'm sure he didn't notice, I'm just one bored face in the crowd, but when you're sitting there struggling to keep awake in the midst of this dead-end mess it feels like his eyes are boring straight into the back of your head. I escaped the theater without being throttled by the mighty hands of The Tick, but after he reads this review, well the next time I may not be so lucky. Rock Slyde just isn't very clever or funny. It's exactly the kind of movie you'd expect it to be, after all it stars Patrick Warburton and Andy Dick, not Seth »

Blu-Ray Review: ‘The Venture Bros.: 3rd Season’ Continues to Rock in HD

23 March 2009 11:29 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Blu-Ray Rating: 4.0/5.0 Chicago – Adult Swim’s “The Venture Bros.” is the best show you’re not watching. As clever as “South Park,” “Family Guy,” or “The Simpsons,” “The Venture Bros.” is a hilarious dissection of the history of adventure animation like “Jonny Quest”. With a commentary on every episode, gorgeous video and audio, and twenty minutes of deleted scenes, “The Venture Bros: Season Three” is a must-buy for TV animation fans.

The title characters of “The Venture Bros.” are Hank and Dean Venture, the dopey kids surrounded by chaos of living life in the Venture family with their legendary father Dr. Thaddeus “Rusty” Venture and their infamous bodyguard Brock Samson.

The Venture Bros.: 3rd Season will be released on Blu-Ray on March 24th, 2009.

To this viewer, the kids seem loosely modeled on The Hardy Boys and other naive investigators of that literary era, but »

Rules of Engagement Star Previews New Season

2 March 2009 7:19 AM, PST | TVGuide.com - Features | See recent TVGuide - Features news »

Relationships are never easy, especially for the guys and gals of Rules of Engagement. TVGuide.com caught up with Patrick Warburton — who plays married man Jeff — to get the scoop on what we can expect from the couples in the new season (premieres March 2 at 9:30 pm/Et on CBS), and what David Spade is like when the cameras are off.

TVGuide.com: What can we expect for this upcoming season?

Patrick Warburton: [Jeff] ends up with a new buddy who is gay, unbeknownst to him, so he has to kind of deal with that. He's played by Orlando Jones, who was fun to work with and a good guy. We also have a new character. His name is Timmy and he's the assistant to Russell. He's very refined and witty and sharp and classy and Spade is on the other end of that spectrum, so you put the two »

Collider Goes to the Set of Rules Of Engagement – Which Returns Monday, March 2nd on CBS -- Watch exclusive video interviews with David Spade, Patrick Warburton, Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson, Bianca Kajlich and Orlando Jones

26 February 2009 | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Right before the November Presidential election, I was invited, along with a few other journalists, to the set of “Rules of Engagement”. While Collider has been invited to the set of many movies, this was the first time we’d ever gotten an invite to visit a TV show, so I’ll admit to being a bit nervous. Thankfully, all the actors couldn’t have been more gracious and happy to be talking, so I found the entire experience a lot of fun. Also, I’ve been a fan of David Spade and Patrick Warburton for a long time, so it was really cool to get to talk with both of them. But let me back up a second. Some of you might not be familiar with the show. What you need to know is “Rules of Engagement” returns on Monday, March 2nd at 9:30 Pm as part of CBS’s highly-rated comedy block, »
