Joseph Wapner was born on November 15, 1919 in Los Angeles, California, USA as Joseph Albert Wapner. He was an actor, known for Animal Court (1998), The People's Court (1981) and Joan Rivers and Friends Salute Heidi Abromowitz (1985). He was married to Mildred (Mickey) Nebenzahl. He died on February 26, 2017 in Los Angeles.

Joined the United States Army in 1942 and was a veteran in World War II. Was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Appointed by Gov. Edmund G. Brown.
Appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court in 1959.
Graduated from the University of Southern California, 1941 (bachelor of philosophy) and 1948 (law degree)
His son, Fred Wapner, was a prosecutor in California, and later a judge as well.
Retired after about 20 years from the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Law runs in the family: His father was a lawyer. Both of his sons practiced law as well.
