George Clooney is handsome and savvy, but he’s also self-aware when it comes to his ladies-man reputation. When he signed to play an eternal bachelor in his latest film, Up in the Air, directed by Jason Reitman (Juno), he immediately saw parallels between the character and himself. "Jason came to my house and brought the script and I read it," Clooney says. "There were some things that sounded like they were taken from a Barbara Walters special that I had done. I'm not completely unaware of people’s perceptions of me. I sort of felt like, if you were »

The Dish Rag doesn't normally cover the social lives of octogenarians. Frankly, we don't care how famous you are, once you reach 50 you've pretty much earned the right to socialize with whoever you want without having to worry about getting caught in a walk of shame by the press.
1) If they are dating we're happy that they've managed to find someone close(ish) in age. Frank is 71; Babs is 80. 2) Frank used to live with Barbara's "View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg a decade ago.
The only problem is that none of this may be true. The New York Post is calling "The Box" actor Barbara's "new leading man" even though she told them "Frank and I have been friends for many years and will continue to be friends for many years, but it's not a romance. »
Anthony Marshall, the son of Brooke Astor, one of New York City’s most celebrated philanthropists, is moving from his posh penthouse to a bigger house – in fact, the really Big House. He was sentenced to jail today (Dec. 21) for strealing millions of dollars from his frail mother in a case of geezer greed gone wild. During the trial, prosecutors called celebrity friends such as ABC 20/20 host Barbara Walters and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to testify on Astor’s behalf.NBC “Today Show” weatherman Al Roker, a parishioner at Marshall’s church, who praised him as a “good son, father and patriot.” Actress Whoopi Goldberg a friend and neighbor, told the judge in a letter that jailing him “would only amount to an unnecessary cruelty that would serve no real purpose.” »

The pair sparked speculation they were a couple earlier this month after Walters and Langella were spotted together in Washington, D.C. for the Kennedy Center Honors.
But Walters, 80, has denied claims their relationship is more than platonic.
She tells the New York Post's gossip column Page Six, "Frank and I have been friends for many years and will continue to be friends for many years, but it's not a romance."
In our annual Visibility Awards, we formally recognize the people who have positively or negatively impacted lesbian and bi visibility in American entertainment during the year. (See previous years here: 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004.)
From Best Movie to Worst Song to Lesbian/Bi Woman of the Year, these awards recognize the television shows, movies, music, books and people who entertained, inspired, or disappointed us in 2009.
Last year, some of the category winners were chosen by both the AfterEllen.com staff and AfterEllen.com readers. This year, AfterEllen.com staff and contributing writers chose the winners for each category, as readers will be given the opportunity to vote on a wider range of topics and categories in our first annual Lesbian/Bi Women's Choice Awards in January.
Once again this year, we've included international people, shows and movies as a reflection of the increasing awareness of lesbian and bisexual visibility around the world made possible by the Internet. »
The "American Idol" runner-up beat out "Twilight's" Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson for the No. 3 spot. MTV.com is citing Lambert as possibly the biggest "Idol" star of all time, in the media outlets everywhere you looked in 2009. (Lautner is No. 4, Pattinson, No. 6, in case you were wondering.) Eminem, Drake, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne are also on the list. MTV will reveal the top two spots later this week.
What do you think? Is Lambert the biggest "Idol" contestant? Somehow Jennifer Hudson comes to mind instead, but that could just be us.
-- And speaking of Idol runner-ups, 2006 runner-up Katharine McPhee is doing her best to stay in the spotlight with a karaoke contest on Dailymotion. »
Us TV host Barbara Walters could not hide her glee at getting Christmas cards from Prince Charles and Sir Elton John. The veteran journalist showed off the festive A-list cards to her colleagues on The View talk show. The card from Charles and Camilla featured their royal crests and a photo of the couple in a horse-drawn carriage. “The first is from my dear friends Charles and Camilla. They each have their own crest and note his is bigger than hers,” said Walters. She then showed off her card from Sir Elton John and husband David Furnish, which featured the Madonna with child. »

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like Lady Gaga-inspired holiday tunes from Landline TV.
Our favorite part is the deep-voiced background singers on "Ho-Ho-Hoker Face" going "Jesus is your lord and savior" and "She is super-into Jesus." They make it sound like it's Christmas in Hell.
The songlist includes "Bad Snowmans," "Love Sleigh," "Snow Pants," "Little Drummer Boy" and "Ho-ho-hoker Face." We love that they stuck a real one in there and it's the totally depressing "Little Drummer Boy."
Don't quit the video early, either -- you'll miss Taylor Swift's Country Hanukkah. "What is this for? Why isn't anyone telling me?"

NBC's powerhouse franchise Sunday Night Football again ruled the broadcast networks for the week ending Dec. 13. The sports program drew 20.9 million viewers, besting new episodes of CBS' CSI and The Mentalist, which tied for the No. 2 spot, pulling in 16.4 million viewers. Rounding out the Top 5 for the week—shocker!—were also shows on the strong-performing CBS: No. 4 went to Sunday-night staple 60 Minutes with 16.2 million viewers and a repeat of television's biggest scripted show NCIS landed at No. 5 with 15.1 million viewers. Not shabby at all for an episode that has already aired! The rest of the Top 20—while littered with the usual suspects like No. »

The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will use her hit song in their latest ad campaign.
Which is amusing since we only recently found out that the song is about her fantasizing about having sex with women while making love to her boyfriend. What happens in Vegas, gets fantasized about? The ad, which finishes with the slogan "Show Us Your Poker Face", focuses on the resort's exciting features, including the Playboy Club and Fantasy Towers.
Palms owner George Maloof said; "We feel that this is a special and unique opportunity to connect the Palms brand with one of the most respected and talented artists of our time."
Respected and talented to be sure. Also controversial.
On Barbara Walters show this week, Lady admitted she fantasized about women whilst making love to her ex-boyfriend. »
He said less about homophobia, true, but he didn't let ABC off the hook entirely. Neither did Barbara.
“Protect your children, people!” – that ironic response to Barbara Walters asking him if it bothers him how little trust the universe seems to have for him set the tone for his visit to the set of The View on Tuesday, or actually Thursday, when it finally aired after ABC censors went over the interview and the performance with a fine-tooth comb. At least he's kept a sense of humor about the whole big mess.
The ladies proved to be a welcoming, supportive group overall, and Adam Lambert proved to be a fun interview, building a case for himself about not judging him from a single performance that maybe ran away from him. He also pops off funny one liners with Joy, which proves he may have a backup career as a comic »
Yesterday we reported on the surprising news that Chris Cuomo was going to be leaving Good Morning America (surprising because it was so sudden). Cuomo announced that he would still be on ABC, however, and would take over the co-anchor job on the nighttime news show 20/20.
Unlike Chris Cuomo's announcement, Diane Sawyer had given plenty of notice that she would be leaving Good Morning America and taking over Charles Gibson's anchor position at "World News" (Gibson is retiring).
Diane Sawyer has been part of the political and news landscape in the United States since the early 1970s. From 1978 to 1989, she was a political correspondent and co-anchor of the CBS Morning News, and then 60 Minutes. Sawyer moved to ABC in 1989 to co-anchor Primetime Live with Sam Donaldson (a former co-anchor of 20/20, back when Barbara Walters was also co-anchoring the news program) and even 20/20.

Lady GaGa has said that the biggest misconception about her is that she is attention-seeking. The singer told Barbara Walters on ABC News that 'Poker Face' is about her bisexuality but added that while she finds women attractive, she has "only been in love with men". When asked if she had had sex with a woman, she answered: "Well, I've... my goodness. I've certainly had sexual relationships with women, yes." (more) »

Adam Lambert has made an appearance on the Thursday, December 10 episode of "The View". Sat down with hosts Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Sheri Shepherd, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the runner-up of "American Idol" season 8 once again addressed his raunchy performance at 2009 American Music Awards. He insisted, "I'm not a babysitter."
Elaborating his statement, Lambert continued, "My job is not to take care of your kids. That's your job ... It's not American Idol anymore. It's my career." Though so, the 27-year-old revealed that he had learned something from the controversy. "I think now I'm a little more conscious of it."
"I wasn't up there on stage like, 'Oh, this is going to get them'," he said of his AMAs performance, which saw him spontaneously making out with his straight male keyboardist. "I'll probably stay more consistent in rehearsal to performance."
During the interview, Lambert also admitted that the controversy had helped to »
Us first lady Michelle Obama has turned out to be the secret 10th most fascinating person on Barbara Walters' anticipated list this year. Those who join will her were revealed earlier. Obama, the wildly popular, accomplished and beautiful wife of the Us president, was announced in the special that aired on Wednesday night. Being known for her unique-but-often-criticized performances, Lady GaGa recently admitted that her stage antics made her father thought she was "mentally unstable". In an interview with Barbara Walters, the "Bad Romance" hitmaker opened up about what her father really felt towards her performance on stage.
"It wasn't really so easy for my dad, especially in the beginning," the 23-year-old recalled her father 's reaction after he watched her performed for the first time. She went on detailing, "We didn't talk for months after the first time he saw me play, and my mother told me he was afraid I was, like, mentally unstable."
The singer who claimed her fame through debut single "Just Dance" further mentioned that she and her father have been back on speaking term. She has even wrote a song for him called "Speechless". Of the song, she previously said, "[Speechless] was this plea to my father [to get open heart surgery]. I sent it to him. »
Barbara Walters has laid her 2009 .Most Fascinating. egg. Monsters and Critics has compared and contrasted what the veteran journalist has delivered as .the most fascinating people of 2009.. Walters gave her "Most" most fascinating award to First Lady Michelle Obama, who she asks about her arms, and her vegetable garden, and juggling two kids in the White House. Here's our take: 1. Lady GaGa M&C: Agreed. Whatever you think of her, this ballsy 23 year-old is undeniably smart, creative, unafraid and a fine musician and masterful pop composer. Never, ever boring. 2. Adam LambertM&C: No. A black nail polish wearing boy kissing a boy on TV does not make one fascinating. We nominate the most underappreciated man »

Lady Gaga was left embarrassed after being asked: 'Have you had sex with women?' Gaga seemed stunned by the blunt question while being interviewed as part of a TV special about The 10 Most Influential People of the Year. And the normally outlandish star, dressed unusually demure and without her usual sunglasses, was lost for words and clearly embarrassed. 'Um, uh... well I... my goodness!,' she stuttered at interviewer Barbara Walters, usually known for her easy-going, conservative questioning style. Finally, the star admitted: 'I have certainly had sexual relationships with women, yes.' Asked if she was bisexual, she said: 'Well I do like women. But I've only been in love with men, I've never been »

Update: A judge granted a preliminary injunction ordering Jon Gosselin to stop making media appearances that infringe upon his contract with Tlc. The former Jon & Kate star did not appear in court today and his lawyers did not present any evidence. ________ Kate Gosselin got some good press this week, what with being named one of Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009. Her estranged hubby? Not so much. Yes, it was Pile on Jon Gosselin Day at a Maryland courthouse as the preliminary hearing kicked off in his and Tlc's dueling civil suits over Jon & Kate Plus 8. And the octodad sure picked a good time to be Mia as Tlc chief operating officer Edward Sabin tore »
"I think now I'm a little more conscious of it. I wasn't up there on stage like, 'Oh, this is going to get them.' I'll probably stay more consistent in rehearsal to performance. I brought awareness and visibility. It may not have been the exact visibility I was looking for, and they're not focusing on [my music], which is what I'm about. I'm a little different. My dreidel spins the other way."
-Adam Lambert, talking to the hosts of ABC daytime talk show "The View" about his now-legendary performance at the American Music Awards — the one that got him tossed off "Good Morning America," "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "New Year's Rockin Eve" and resulted in a number of complaints to the network. Lambert chatted about his image, his music and "American Idol" on the show. He followed up his conversation with a performance of "Whataya Want from Me," the latest »
