EastEnders star Shane Richie has said that he wants his character Alfie Moon to stay faithful to wife Kat. Alfie has been tipped to face temptation in the coming weeks, as lonely Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) realises that she's falling in love with him. The pair are currently working together at the Queen Vic while Kat (Jessie Wallace) is away looking after her dad Charlie, who has suffered a stroke. However, Richie told All About Soap: "As far as Alfie's concerned, he's a happily married man. He can see that Roxy is flirting with him, but he just thinks she's being friendly. Danielle Mason has revealed that she will be getting married to her traveller boyfriend Tony Giles in an upcoming episode of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. The 26-year-old glamour model, whose sister is EastEnders actress Jessie Wallace, said that she has struggled to adapt to the "gypsy" life as most of them do not accept her choice of career. Mason told The Sun: "Posing topless or, to be honest, even modelling is seen as shameful. It was bad enough for Tony's family that I was a Gorja [non-traveller] but when they learned what I did for a job I think they were horrified." The star said that she would "love" to see a gypsy become a Page Three girl, saying: "They've certainly got the looks for it - most traveller girls are absolutely stunning." However, Giles admitted that he doesn't (more) »

'EastEnders' bosses have worked for "some time" to bring back Letitia Dean. It was announced yesterday (02.02.12) that the actress is to reprise her role as Sharon Rickman but show chiefs have dismissed claims that she was drafted in as a replacement for Jessie Wallace - who plays Kat Moon - as she has been given three months off to focus on her personal life. A spokesperson told DigitalSpy: "There is no link between Letitia's return to 'EastEnders' and Jessie not being around at the moment. We have been working on plans to bring Sharon back for quite some time." Other insiders promised »

EastEnders bosses have insisted that there is "no link" between Letitia Dean's return to the soap and Jessie Wallace's break from filming. Earlier today, show chiefs announced that Dean has signed up to reprise her role as Walford favourite Sharon Watts, who will be back on screen in the summer. Some tabloid articles this morning suggested that EastEnders producers brought back Sharon to "fill the gap" left behind by Wallace's character Kat Moon. Wallace is reportedly on a three-month break from the programme. However, an EastEnders spokesperson today told Digital Spy: "There is no link between Letitia's return (more) »

EastEnders star Jessie Wallace's ex-fiancé Vince Morse has said that he believes they will reunite in the near future. The actress - who plays Kat Moon in the BBC soap - called off her wedding in August last year after she discovered that Morse sent explicit messages to an ex-girlfriend. The catering boss claimed in September that a reconciliation had been discussed, though Wallace remains single and this week was written out of Eastenders for three months so she can come to terms with the split. Speaking to The People, Morse claimed that Wallace had got back in touch with him following his public appearances last year begging for forgiveness. "Jessie and I are talking now. I don't want to say too much but I'd like to get her back," he said. "I know I've made a complete muppet of (more) »

Jessie Wallace has reportedly been written out of EastEnders for three months. The actress, who plays Kat Moon in the BBC One soap, is said to have been given a break as she continues to get over her split from Vince Morse. Show bosses have organised emergency script changes which have seen Kat called away to care for dad Charlie after he suffered a stroke. "She's had a stressful six months," a friend told The Sun. "She's been given three months off and no one can blame her for taking a break. "Jessie's worked solidly since her wedding nightmare and had already come back early from what would have been her honeymoon. It was a very easy decision to make for the show. (more) »

Ex-EastEnders star Samantha Womack has admitted that she thought the show's controversial baby-swap plot was "implausible". The 2011 storyline saw Womack's character Ronnie Mitchell lose her newborn son James to cot death and switch him with Kat Moon's (Jessie Wallace) healthy child Tommy in her grief-stricken state. Womack made her on-screen exit in July when Ronnie was imprisoned for her actions. Reflecting on the plot, which attracted a record 13,400 complaints from viewers, Womack said that she could understand why producers wanted to create "sensationalism" rather than present Ronnie with realistic adversities. "I thought it was implausible. Most women who lose a child would not go out and abduct one," she told The Mirror. "But Ronnie is a soap character and she is not necessarily representing real life.
