Dwayne Johnson Looks Extra Tough in New 'Fast 8' Photo, Confirms 'Doc Savage'

31 May 2016 12:00 PM, PDT | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Recently, Dwayne Johnson completed production of a big-screen version of Baywatch, due in theaters on May 19, 2017, and he's already moved on to his next role. It's a familiar character, but Johnson sounds determined to give him a different spin, as evidenced in a new photo (above). Introduced in Fast Five back in 2011, Luke Hobbs was a Diplomatic Secret Service agent who was tasked with tracking down the heroes portrayed by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. He returned in Fast & Furious 6 and recruited the team to help him take down a villain. In Furious 7, Hobbs has a smaller part, though he is featured in a great action sequence against Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). In Fast 8, now in production, Hobbs will evidently be presented in a new light. Johnson shared the first...

Dwayne Johnson Teases Fast & Furious 8 Look

29 May 2016 9:47 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Dwayne Johnson is one of the more social media-savvy stars out there, and as the actor prepares to delve into filming on Fast & Furious 8 (which has been underway for some time now, under the watchful eye of Straight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray), he’s teasing the gritty new look his breakout character, agent Luke Hobbs.

Hobbs, who was first introduced as an adversary in Fast Five before becoming an ally of Dom Toretto’s “family” of racing junkies in Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7, doesn’t appear to be in great shape for this upcoming outing. Previous installments have shown audiences that he has a daughter, for whom he cares for immensely, and a love interest in Elsa Pataky’s Elena Neves, so there are certainly a few pieces in play that could send Hobbs down a dark and dangerous path.

'Furious 8': First Day With the Team Together [Video]

27 May 2016 12:01 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Furious 7 exceeded all expectation when it hit theaters last year. Sure, given actor Paul Walker's untimely and tragic death, it was expected that many would pay their ticket just to see how the series would pay homage to its lead, but no one expected it to do the numbers it did. By the end of its theater run, the film took in over $1.5 billion worldwide, currently placing it at number six in all time worldwide box office grosses.

That's definitely a lot of pressure going into Furious 8, which will only be the second film not to feature Paul Walker. But the production has moved forward with the rest of the cast intact and Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray at the helm. When all said and done, the franchise seems to be in safe hands.

Production for Furious 8 has been underway for the past few months, though »

Comedy Roasts That Took It Too Far

25 May 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Saying the words "Friar's Club" without scaring away millennials who only speak in memes. Making the celeb in the chair feel honored, but just humbled enough to not jump out a window. Showcasing TV-friendly material that has enough foul language to make Quentin Tarantino blush: The comedic roast walks a whole lot of fine lines -- it's just part of the delicate mix of sick burns, underhanded compliments, and unthinkable vocabulary that makes up the cocktail. But sometimes when you shake that cocktail, it explodes right in your face. Pause to remember five roasts that did just that, and had viewers wincing between the laughs all the way.

Justin Bieber: Too Fast, Too Furious, Too Soon

The 2015 Comedy Central roast of Justin Bieber should've been a momentous occasion -- yeah, it's weird that the Biebs got roasted in the first place, but at least we can all laugh at »

The end of the seventh Fast and the Furious film packed an unbelievable emotional punch as the character of Brian was written out. After the tragic and untimely death of Paul Walker fans were uncertain whether the franchise in which he made his name would continue. They didn’t have to wait too long though as the film amassed a mighty box-office, meaning that of course they’d be more. In fact an entire new trilogy was announced and whilst first thoughts were that a new crew would lead the action, that was quickly quashed as Vin Diesel announced his involvement.

Other cast members confirmed to return include Dwayne JohnsonKurt RussellNathalie Emmanuel and Jason Statham with both Eva Mendez and Lucas Black rumoured to be returning to the fold. »

Vin Diesel and Justin Lin confirm they have talked about Lin returning for Fast & Furious 10 in 2021...

Currently, there is plenty of hype going into 2017’s Fast & Furious 8, the first Fast & Furious movie that Vin Diesel will be in the driver’s seat in without Paul Walker. The project has plenty of reasons for fans of the onscreen Toretto Familia to be pleased since Kurt Russell is returning to the fray, and Charlize Theron signed on to be the new villainess in the franchise.

However, Diesel is already looking to the future with concern about how this franchise ends. Previously stating that the unofficially titled Fast & Furious 10 would be the franchise’s final ride, apparently Diesel has approached Justin Lin to direct the last installment.

Lin, who directed all of the films between The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) and Fast & Furious 6 (2013), has left the franchise and »

Concept Art for "Superman: Flyby"

Welcome back to a special ongoing look at Warner Bros. and how it's handled its DC Comics properties. It's going to be a weekly, ongoing miniseries here at Lrm. This entry will look at what into relaunching the Batman and Superman franchises, and more. We'll explore all of the interesting parallels and forks in the road that brought us to where the Dceu is today.

Last week, we left off in 1997. Batman And Robin came out and was a huge black eye for Warner Bros., effectively turning what was a once promising franchise into a punchline. It was the fourth installment of that series, and it killed Batman almost as definitively as the fourth Superman film had grounded the Man of Steel exactly 10 years earlier.

But before we can look at how Warner Bros. planned to rebound its DC properties post-1997, we have to »
