She was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 2001 (2000 season) for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in The Beautiful Game at the Cambridge Theatre.
She and her family moved to Peterlee, Durham, north-east England in 1972 at the height of the Northern Ireland troubles - her father comedian Roy Walker was Protestant and her mother was Catholic making it unsafe to be living in Belfast.
Her two older brothers, Mark and Philip, are comedians. Her mother, died of cancer in 1989 when she was 19 years old.
She sang at the inauguration of President George W. Bush in January 2001
