TV Land has renewed their original sitcom, Happily Divorced, for a third season. The cable channel has ordered another 12 episodes, matching the TV show's second season count.
Starring Fran Drescher, Happily Divorced is inspired by the actresses' real-life story. It revolves around a Los Angeles florist (Drescher) whose husband comes out of the closet after 18-years of marriage. Unable to sell their house, she and her gay ex-husband (John Michael Higgins) continue to live together. Still friends and now "happily divorced," they both re-enter the dating world.
The cast also features Tichina Arnold, Rita Moreno, Robert Walden, and Valente Rodriguez.

Whether it’s his film work on those hilarious Christopher Guest productions like Best In Show, television work as David Letterman in the bio-pic The Late Show or The Good Wife or originating the title role in the off-Broadway production of Paul Rudnick’s Jeffrey, John Michael Higgins is one of those actors you’ve seen in just about every medium imaginable and, more times than not, he’s playing a gay character.
In the TV Land sitcom, Happily Divorced, Higgins again plays gay, this time as character Peter Lovett, who figures out he’s gay while married to his wife, Fran, played by Fran Drescher. The setup? We recently reported that Happily Divorced and Retired at 35 would be kicking off their second seasons on March 7th, at 10pm and 10:30pm respectively. TV Land has already changed their plans.
Happily Divorced, which recently resumed production, will be back as previously announced but is moving to 10:30pm. Retired at 35 is being bumped until later this year. A timeframe hasn't been announced and no reason was given for the schedule change.

Production on the second season of TV Land's original sitcom Happily Divorced began today. Starring Fran Drescher, John Michael Higgins, Tichina Arnold, Rita Moreno, Robert Walden and Valente Rodriguez, the cable channel renewed the TV series for a sophomore season of 12 episodes last July. Happily Divorced returns to TV Land on March 7th at 10pm.
It'll be followed by the second season premiere of Retired at 35. That show -- which stars George Segal, Jessica Walter, Johnathan McClain and Josh McDermitt -- was renewed last March and was given a 10 episode order. Marissa Jaret Winokur joins the cast this time around.
