This first-ever Greenwich International Film Festival (Giff) is coming next June and will showcase over 25 films, world premieres, parties and an award ceremony. Created by Carina Crain, Colleen deVeer, and Wendy Stapleton Reyes, the Connecticut festival will use its downtown areas to show the best in film. Although the lineup has yet to be announced, Giff will have exciting events that will take place throughout the year, including a screening of Emily Wachtel’s comedy film "Lucky Them," directed by Megan Griffiths. A Q&A with the filmmakers will be held on June 16th at Avon Theatre in Stamford, Ct.  “The possibilities for the Greenwich International Film Festival are limitless," said Founders Carina Crain, Colleen deVeer and Wendy Stapleton Reyes. "It is our goal that the Festival will build a reputation for the caliber of films we showcase and the unique charitable aspect that we will bring to the forefront each year. »

Toni Collette as Ellie on Charlie: "The fact that we are so opposite. The thing that I live for, you despise."

Wachtel spoke about transitioning over from Sam Shepard and what it's like to see a version of herself come to life. Tom and Toni talked drinks, Sam Raimi's favourite, Bryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and the importance of limes, while I gave Ryan Eggold a T-shirt idea.

Thomas Haden Church as Charlie with Toni Collette as Ellie: "I think he just riffs on what's there. It's extended rather than shifted."

On the panel, she spoke about the roles Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward played in the making of her film.

Thomas Haden Church steals the show in Megan Griffiths' spirited comedy set in the world of Seattle music journalism and hankering for love stories past. Based in part on adventures in co-screenwriter Emily Wachtel's life, Toni Collette plays music journalist Ellie Klug who likes her whiskey straight and her life uncomplicated. The magazine »
