‘Saved by the Bell’ Spoof Takes a Look at the ‘Black Kids of Bayside’ (Video)

23 December 2014 10:24 PM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Bayside High may have looked like a multicultural school in the 1990s on “Saved by the Bell,” but a new sketch on TruTV’s sketch comedy show “Friends of the People” shows that it still had an under-represented class, and they were both ignored and confused by the antics on the popular kids show.

The sketch, called “Black Kids of Bayside,” featured this side group of African-American friends interacting near Zack Morris and his group, and yet they were completely ignored. Even Lark Voorhies’ Lisa Turtle, who is black, couldn’t see or hear them, no matter how loud »

Celebrity Websites That Desperately Need an Upgrade

In the era of Beyoncé, we expect celebrities’ brands to be on point — especially when it comes to their online presences. Stars’ official websites are windows into their souls for many eager fans, so less-than-stellar digital footprints are pretty embarrassing. Oh, and ugly. Clearly, some A-listers don’t realize the age of basic HTML is long gone.

We scoured the web for the most abysmal celebrity websites, and we came across some pretty head-scratching displays. From Jeff Bridges‘ weird fonts to Jennifer Aniston‘s dated layout and Will Smith‘s eerily simple page, these celebrities need to hire new web designers immediately.

Truth be told, this all started upon our realization that Saved By the Bell star Lark Voorhies has the most awkward angelic page in history. Hop into the gallery above for some strange sites, and let us know what you think in the comments below. »

Lark Voorhies Looks Unrecognizable in Strange Makeup in Rare Public Appearance

2 September 2014 7:42 AM, PDT | Us Weekly | See recent Us Weekly news »

Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here? Lark Voorhies, best known as Lisa Turtle from the beloved '90s series Saved By the Bell, made a rare public appearance on Sunday, Aug. 31, in Los Angeles -- one day before The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story movie premiered on Lifetime. Voorhies, 40, appeared dramatically different than her fashion and beauty-obsessed on-screen alter-ego. She wore heavy makeup including above-the-crease blue eye shadow, pink blush and brick red lipstick. Her outfit was more understated with a hooded knit sweater, [...] »

8 Reasons Why Dustin Diamond Was Pissed Off During the Saved by the Bell Years

2 September 2014 7:00 AM, PDT | | See recent news »

By Christopher Rosa

Lifetime aired its highly-anticipated movie The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story last night, and one thing is pretty clear by the credits: It was a hard knock four years for Screech (Dustin Diamond). Narrated by Bayside High School’s resident geek — and loosely based off Diamond’s 2009 tell-all Behind the Bell — Unauthorized  puts Screech in one corner and his pretty-preppy co-stars (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Lark Voorhies, Elizabeth Berkley and Tiffani Thiessen) in the other. For two hours, we watch Diamond yearning to be hotter, edgier, drunker (yup) — and the whole thing is really, really depressing.

Now, it’s not just Screech screeching. Unauthorized delivers the Saved by the Bell behind-the-scenes dish we were hungry for. The highlights: Gosselaar (Zack Morris) had to touch up his own roots before taping the first episode; Berkley (who played Jessie Spano) wanted to research and meet real drug addicts »

Lark Voorhies Spotted at Farmer's Market in La -- See the Rare Pic!

2 September 2014 6:00 AM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

On the heels of the premiere of the Lifetime movie, "The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story," Lark Voorhies, the original Lisa Turtle, made an extremely rare public appearance at a Los Angeles farmer's market on Saturday. The 40-year-old actress looked almost unrecognizable, sporting heavy blue eye makeup, a bold red lip and a dramatic bowl cut hairstyle. Voorhies has kept a low profile over the last few years -- popping up occasionally for a rare photo op or TV interview and then vanishing again. She made headlines in 2012 after a strange interview with People magazine, where she was described as "mumbling to herself or to others who weren't there." Her mother also claimed she was bi-polar, but Lark denied it. What do you think of Lark's latest look? Tell toofab in the comment section below, and check out the gallery above to see more women of the 90's!Click »

9 Things Revealed by Lifetime's 'Saved by the Bell' Movie

1 September 2014 11:30 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Lifetime achieved the best and worst possible results with "The Unauthorized 'Saved by the Bell' Story," a TV movie that premiered last night: It wasn't exactly a cringe-inducing retelling of Dustin Diamond's memoir about his time as Screech on "Saved by the Bell," but it wasn't titillating or scandalous either. The movie had the stench of looming legal ramifications, as if the producers were terrified of Tiffani(-Amber) Thiessen and Mario Lopez arriving with defamation suits at any moment. (That makes sense considering the original memoir contains its fair share of serious accusations.) Subsequently, the only cast member with any dirt to spill was Diamond, whose woes were still pretty mundane as depicted. In other words: We weren't so excited or so scared, and we needed a few hundred caffeine pills just to stay awake during this damn movie.  But we did pick up a few interesting »

100 things that apparently happened, as told by 'The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story'

1 September 2014 10:10 PM, PDT | - PopWatch | See recent - PopWatch news »

On Monday, September 1, Lifetime ushered in a new generation of unauthorized biopics with its behind the scenes look at what really happened on the 1990s hit Saved by the Bell. The cast has largely disavowed themselves from the project and/or Dustin Diamond’s scandalous memoir Behind the Bell, and considering that the movie is based on that biography, it’s safe to say most of the things that happened in this movie didn’t really happen that way at all.

But still, we watch. We learn. We cringe. We tweet.

8 Things We Learned From Lifetime's Insanely Bizarre Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story

1 September 2014 8:55 PM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

Lifetime went behind the Bell on Monday and unveiled what (allegedly) happened behind the cameras of our favorite childhood sitcom. But instead of Zack Morris running the show, this time it was all about Screech — and the story from outcast Dustin Diamond's perspective.

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, based on Diamond's tell-all memoir, began with the gang -- Dylan Everett as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Sam Kindseth as Diamond, Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley, Julian Works as Mario Lopez, Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Taylor Russell McKenzie as Lark Voorhies — pulling up to their first mall tour unaware their lives were about to change.

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story takes a nostalgic look back at the ‘90s TV show that changed the landscape of Saturday mornings.  Delving into the experiences of six unknown young actors who suddenly have the Hollywood spotlight shining brightly on them, it also exposes the challenges of growing up under public scrutiny while trying to maintain the squeaky clean image of their popular characters.  With casting done by the original series’ casting director, Robin Lippin, the movie stars Dylan Everett as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Sam Kindseth as Dustin Diamond, Julian Works as Mario Lopez, Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley, and Taylor Russell McKenzie as Lark Voorhies. During this exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Dylan Everett talked about how he came to be a part of the movie, not knowing that he had auditioned for the original series casting director, what he identified with in the script, »

New 'Saved by the Bell Story' Clip: Zach and Screech Bond

26 August 2014 2:11 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Here it is, a new clip from my favorite movie I've never seen, Lifetime's "The Unauthorized 'Saved By the Bell' Story." Based on Dustin Diamond's scintillating, actually boring memoir, the movie will chronicle the backstory of our beloved Bayside. Lark Voorhies is all set to be the greatest film heroine of our time, inevitably. In this new clip, watch as Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Dylan Everett) and Dustin Diamond (Sam Kindseth) arrive on set for the first filming. The absurdity of this movie is so great, it is actually wonderful. I just shouted, "Good morning, Miss Bliss!" at the sky. The sun, which has always looked like Hayley Mills to me, winks back. The movie premieres Labor Day on Lifetime. »

Put on your baggiest Hypercolor® tee, your finest high-tops and your stoniest stone-washed jeans -- it's time to return to "Saved By the Bell." Lifetime knows how much you want to watch the cable network's highly-anticipated "The Unauthorized Story Of Saved By The Bell," so they've released the first five minutes of the movie online.  The clip begins at a 1990 public appearance in Cincinnati where thousands of fans clamor to catch a glimpse of the teen tube stars in a very "Hard Day's Night"-kind of way. It then transforms into what can only be described as "Screech's Goodfellas," with Sam Kindseth playing scrawny star Dustin Diamond. It flashes back to Diamond's 1988 audition and includes lots of narration, a rousing pop soundtrack (The Go-Gos, Bell Biv Devoe), restless camerawork, and Screech breaking the fourth wall in order to address the audience.  Watch it here:     (function(d, s, id) { var js, »

Following the first clip and trailer released earlier this month, Lifetime has debuted the first five minutes of their new TV movie The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, before its premiere on Monday, September 1 at 9 Pm Et.

The movie starts off in the year 1990, as the Saved by the Bell cast gets ready for their first public appearance, unaware if their show is actually a hit or not in these pre-Internet times. There is even a nod to Zack Morris' infamous "time out" bit, before this extended clip goes back to 1988, which reveals that the show originally centered on the teachers of Bayside High. Take a look at the first scenes from The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story before the TV movie debuts on Labor Day.

What could be better than making fun of sports and re-staging classic "Saved by the Bell" moments? That's what Garfunkel & Oates (a.k.a. Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci) have done with this snazzy, athletic, totally sarcastic video called "Sports Go Sports." Can you identify the Bayside tribute it's going for? Who can resist such anthemic lyrics as "Athletics are #1"? In case the original "Saved by the Bell" performance isn't ringing a bell, check it out here. Miss you, Lark Voorhies. »

Watch: Get A Blast From The '90s With Trailer For Lifetime’s 'The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story'

Hold on to your hats! It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Lifetime has posted its first trailer for “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story,” and it promises all of the ego, attitude and adolescent drama you’d want in a behind the scenes look at the making of the splashy '90s Saturday morning sitcom. Inspired by but not based on the 2009 book “Behind The Bell,” which was written by actor Dustin (Screech) Diamond, it’s unclear how far this will delve into scandal, but the memoir was apparently filled with sex and drugs, inciting the ire of some of his costars. Diamond serves as a co-producer on the film, which will star Sam Kindseth in the Diamond role, along with Dylan Everett (Mark-Paul Gosselaar / Zack), Alyssa Lynch (Tiffani Thiessen / Kelly), Julian Works (Mario Lopez / Slater), Tiera Skovbye (Elizabeth Berkley / Jessie) and Taylor Russell McKenzie »
