American television network Lifetime has announced that it is developing a TV movie that promises to deliver a behind-the-scenes expose of the popular 90s teen sitcom Saved By the Bell.

The film – which is titled The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story – will detail the young cast members’ efforts to maintain their squeaky-clean image whilst indulging in sex, drugs and other scandals off-camera. It is said to be loosely based on Dustin Diamond’s autobiography Behind the Bell.

Featuring in the cast of The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story are Dylan Everett as Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack), Sam Kindseth as Dustin Diamond (Screech), Julian Works as Mario Lopez (Slater), Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly), Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie) and Taylor Russell as Lark Voorhies (Lisa). Having grown up watching Saved By The Bell, it will be really interesting to see what behind-the-scenes stories they tell in this thing. I imagine there was a lot more drama with these actors off-screen than on.

The movie was cast by the original casting director of the series, Robin Lippin. The TV movie stars Dylan Everett (Degrassi: The Next Generation) as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Sam Kindseth (Shameless) as Dustin DiamondJulian Works (Paranormal Activity) as Mario Lopez, Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Tiera Skovbye (Supernatural) as Elizabeth Berkley, »

Lifetime to Air 'Saved By the Bell' Tell-All Movie

Get ready for a new scandalous Saved by the Bell movie.

Should the original Saved By the Bell cast be worried?

According to BuzzFeed, Lifetime is producing The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, which focuses on what really went down behind the scenes of the beloved '90s show. Hours of brand-new interviews were conducted for the film -- independent of Dustin Diamond's scandalous tell-all book Behind the Bell -- which is scheduled to air on Labor Day, September 1.

Video: The Secret of 'Saved by the Bell'

Diamond memorably claimed in his 2009 book that cast members Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies were sleeping together, with some even dabbling in drugs.

This being a Lifetime movie, one couldn't imagine the new film not exploring these topics.

'Saved by the Bell' Biopic Coming to Lifetime, First Cast Photo

If you were born in the late '70s, any time in the '80s and probably up to late-'90s you're aware of the television show "Saved by the Bell". I remember seeing it when it first aired and I think I was still watching it in my dorm room in college, probably on TBS with back-to-back episodes, you know, in-between all that studying I was doing. Fans of the show remember Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and his giant cell phone, Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly Kapowski and who would ever forget the episode where Elizabeth Berkeley as Jessie Spano took drugs so she could study all night long. Then you have Mario Lopez who went on to a career in entertainment reporting, Dustin Diamond whom I believe was doing porn or something last I checked and Lark Voorhies who may be the one to have pretty much completely dropped »

Too bad a bell can’t save them now.

Five years after Saved by the Bell’s Dustin Diamond wrote Behind the Bell, his tell-all book that revealed secrets of the Bell set, EW has confirmed that Lifetime is airing The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story. Although the project is completely separate from Diamond’s book, which included accusations of threesomes, drugs, and more, the new television movie will focus in on the same subject matter: The on-set life of the hit series that ran from 1989-1993. According to a press release, the film “delves into the experiences of »

Fans of Bayside High School should be so excited for Labor Day.

Lifetime has set that Monday as its premiere date for “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story.” The TV movie promises to go behind the scenes of the popular Saturday morning teen soap that made household names out of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley and others.

Fittingly, original series casting director Robin Lippin was tapped to find modern-day equivalents in Dylan Everett (who will play Gosselaar and his on-screen persona, Zack Morris), Sam Kindseth (Dustin Diamond/Screech), Julian Works (Lopez/A.C. Slater), Alyssa Lynch (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen/Kelly Kapowski), Tiera Skovbye (Berkley/Jessie Sapano) and Taylor Russell McKenzie (Lark Voorhies/Lisa Turtle).

Lifetime, the network that's bringing you a controversial Aaliyah biopic starring Zendaya Coleman, is wowing us again with another loony project: an unauthorized backstage look at NBC's beloved 1989-93 teen series "Saved By the Bell."  "The Unauthorized 'Saved by the Bell' Story" is based on star Dustin Diamond's tell-all "Behind the Bell," which detailed sinister backstage goings-on at the show. According to him, there was a fair amount of experimentation with drugs and even some sexual dalliances, including threeways. Lifetime apparently also conducted hours of interviews for this project. 'The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story' Will Unfold on Lifetime

19 June 2014 10:30 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Inspired by the salacious stories revealed by series star Dustin Diamond, Lifetime is making a movie about the behind the scenes action on "Saved by the Bell." Depending on your penchant for '90s nostalgia and cheesy teen TV programming, you're either going to be -- like Jessie Spano -- so excited, or so scared. (Or maybe a little of both.)

"The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story" will be in the same vein as Diamond's 2009 memoir, "Behind the Bell," which recounted that cast members were sleeping with each other -- even having threesomes -- and doing drugs throughout the series' run. All except Diamond, of course, who really personified his nerd alter ego, Screech, in those days. (Cue sad violin music for Diamond.)

While "Unauthorized," like its title suggests, won't be a direct adaptation of that book, it will contain similar scenarios, collected through numerous new interviews conducted to write the screenplay. »

Oh hey, Lark Voorhies. The 40-year-old actress, best known for playing Lisa Turtle on the hit show Saved by the Bell, made a rare public appearance over the weekend looking a little bit different than we remember. Voorhies stepped out for the Hollywood premiere of Where We Started Friday night dressed in a white dress paired with silver heels and some silver jewelry. Voorhies was all smiles while posing for pics of the red carpet before heading into the theater. As for her makeup, Voorhies appeared to have been a little heavy handed with the foundation powder while getting ready. The shading around her eyes looked like a different color (like several shades lighter) than the makeup covering the rest of her »

While the rest of the stars of "Saved By the Bell" have done a pretty good job staying in the spotlight, the same can't be said of Lark Voorhies.Lark, who played Lisa Turtle on the classic sitcom, has kept a low profile over the last few years -- popping up occasionally for a bizarre photo op or TV interview and then vanishing again. The actress reappeared over the weekend in Los Angeles, where she was spotted leaving the premiere of "Where We Started" in Hollywood.Voorhies made headlines in 2012 after a strange interview with People magazine, where she was described as "mumbling to herself or to others who weren't there." Her mother also claimed she was bi-polar, but Lark denied it.While we won't post some of the extremely unkind things said about the 40-year-old's appearance on Twitter this weekend, we're happy to see her at least looking happy at the event. »
