SAG Awards TV Predictions 2018: Why ‘The Deuce’ and ‘Glow’ Could Disrupt the Race

SAG Awards TV Predictions 2018: Why ‘The Deuce’ and ‘Glow’ Could Disrupt the Race
The Golden Globes are traditionally TV’s awards disrupters. With so many new shows nominated, it elevates them long enough to (potentially) make a difference at the Emmys. But the SAG Awards are a more telling barometer of industry enthusiasm.

Actors make up a large chunk of the TV Academy membership — much more so than the 80-odd members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — which means seeing what they’re rewarding in December can often predict what might be a player when Emmy season begins next spring.

With so many shows launching in April to take advantage of Emmy voting, series that premiere in the fall need Globes and SAG Awards love to keep buzz alive through the winter and into the spring. Shows like “The Deuce,” “Glow,” “Ozark,” “Mindhunter,” “Godless,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and “Smilf” are aiming for a little extra attention right now.

This Is Us' Chrissy Metz Had One Treat in Mind to Celebrate Her Golden Globes Nomination

This Is Us' Chrissy Metz Had One Treat in Mind to Celebrate Her Golden Globes Nomination
Sometimes there's nothing better than an iced coffee. That was the treat on Chrissy Metz' mind when E! News' Will Marfuggi caught up with her after it was announced that she's been nominated for a Golden Globe for supporting actor in a series for her role on This Is Us. "I have a full day, but I think I'm gonna get an iced coffee," she shared about her celebration plans. "Goin' crazy!"  Metz shares a category with Laura Dern, Ann Dowd, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Shailene Woodley, and was nominated alongside her TV brother, Sterling K. Brown, who is in the running for best actor in a drama. The show itself was also nominated for best drama, but Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy...

'This Is Us' Star Chrissy Metz on the Adorable Way She Found Out About Her Golden Globe Nom (Exclusive)

'This Is Us' Star Chrissy Metz on the Adorable Way She Found Out About Her Golden Globe Nom (Exclusive)
Chrissy Metz learned about her Golden Globe nomination in the cutest way possible.

The This Is Us star earned her second nom in two years for her performance as Kate Pearson, and Et’s Leanne Aguilera was on the set of NBC’s hit family drama on Monday morning to celebrate Metz’s latest achievement.

Turns out, the 37-year-old actress preemptively discovered she was nominated before they were even announced. As Metz recalls, her boyfriend, Josh Stancil, dropped by her house moments before because he had a gut instinct that her name was going to be called.

“Josh called me [this morning]. He was like, ‘I’m coming over!’ I’m like, ‘Ugh, this is presumptuous, it’s not gonna happen, Josh.’ He’s like, ‘That’s not true. You always tell me you have to manifest what you want,’” Metz said. “He came over in his pajamas. I open up my laptop and then of course, [presenter] Garrett [Hedlund] was like, ‘Chrissy Metz

Golden Globes Nominations: 21 Biggest Snubs and Surprises

Golden Globes Nominations: 21 Biggest Snubs and Surprises
On Monday morning, the Golden Globes reinforced the notion that Hollywood is still a boy’s club. The organization, made up of about 90 foreign journalists, seemed to go out on a limb not to nominate a single woman for best director. Not Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”). Not Patty Jenkins (“Wonder Woman”). Not Dee Rees (“Mudbound”).

Although 2017 has been called the year of the woman, the Globes managed to overlook two of the biggest female-led hits of the year: “Beauty and the Beast,” the most successful movie of 2017 so far, was snubbed in the musical/comedy category, and “Wonder Woman” was shut out for any awards. Other surprises: Jordan Peele didn’t get a nomination for writing or directing “Get Out,” although his movie did receive two nominations (for best picture and actor).

Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water,” a love story between a lonely woman and a monster, led all movies with seven nominations.

Somewhere in D.C., ex-President Selina Meyer is dropping f-bombs.

For the first year since its premiere, Veep got entirely shut out of Golden Globe nominations during Monday’s announcement of the 2018 honorees. It was a shocking snub considering star Julia Louis-Dreyfus took home her sixth consecutive Emmy for the role in September, and as her character’s political career plummets, the scripts soar. In fact, the HBO comedy has never won a Globe.

Here are more snubs and surprises from the list.

Milo Ventimiglia in First Trailer for Sci-Fi Horror Thriller 'Devil's Gate'

"Some people are better off not being found." IFC Midnight has debuted the first official trailer for a sci-fi creature feature horror thriller called Devil's Gate. The title comes from the location in the film, a small town in North Dakota named Devil's Gate (which does not really exist). This starts out as your typical small town murder mystery involving various shady characters, but then turns into some crazy alien horror half-way through (the trailer) with some freaky shots. Milo Ventimiglia stars as religious fanatic Jackson Pritchard, along with Amanda Schull, Shawn Ashmore, Bridget Regan, and Jonathan Frakes. That actually seems like a cool cast for a sci-fi horror, and maybe there's some cool twists in this for horror fans to enjoy. All the creepy footage with the creature in this trailer is quite effectively scary. Check it out below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Clay Staub's Devil's Gate,
