The trailer, which can be seen below, ranges from futuristic sets with robots and spaceships to more mundane settings. According to EW, at an early PaleyFest screening of “USS Callister,” creator Charlie Brooker revealed that the episode was conceived as an adult “Toy Story” and it’s about “living under a tyrant.” Its obvious riff on “Star Trek” means that it’s grander in scope and uses a healthy amount of lens flares.

‘Black Mirror’ Season 4 Review: The Future Might Be Bleak, But Some Stellar Installments Will Give You Hope
Get ready for another season of twists, terror, laughs, and love, as “Black Mirror” Season 4 is upon us, once again drawing upon our worst fears and best hopes for the future.

For a show where literally anything can happen with each new episode, there’s something ironic about the fact that we’ve come to have certain expectations as to what an episode of “Black Mirror” might be. Season 4 doesn’t technically subvert those expectations — there are at least two episodes, “Arkangel” and “Crocodile,” which are very much identifiable as classic “Black Mirror” tales. But fortunately, creator Charlie Brooker has taken some big swings with other installments, and the result is proof that “Black Mirror,” as a series, has plenty of mileage left in it.

This is never a show that’s easy to talk about in a spoiler-free context, but it feels safe to say that there’s more

Another Black Mirror Trailer Teases The Season 4 Episode "Hang The DJ"

"Everything happens for a reason."

The past couple days have consisted of Netflix blasting the web with repeated trailers for Season 4 of Black Mirror, and I've been loving every one of them! What I'm beginning to hate, however, is that we're getting all these trailers and still no release date or idea of when we should expect it. I'm guessing since all these trailers are rolling out back to back it's going to happen sometime this month or maybe even next week, but that's just speculation on my part.

While we wait for an official release date feel free to jump on down to this latest episode trailer for "Hang The DJ" which features folks relying on the instructions of an Alexa or Siri like device to control their life.

"Hang the DJ" was directed by Tim Van Patten (The SopranosGame of Thrones), and stars Georgina Campbell (FlowersBroadchurch), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders,

‘Black Mirror: Hang the DJ’ Trailer Introduces A Very Special Kind of Dating App — Watch
Black Mirror” has always been a show interested in romance, but in “Hang the DJ,” one of the upcoming installments of the anthology series’ fourth season, the search for true love is front and center.

Starring Georgina Campbell (“Flowers,” “Broadchurch”), Joe Cole (“Peaky Blinders,” “Green Room”), and George Blagden (“Versailles,” “Vikings”), “Hang the DJ” focuses on, according to Netflix, “an advanced dating system, that maps out a series of relationships for you in advance.” That might sound like a souped-up version of Bumble, but as always with “Black Mirror,” there’s far more to the story.

Tim Van Patten, whose resume includes “The Sopranos” and “Game of Thrones,” directed the episode, making it one of the few episodes of the series to be directed by an American. Series creator Charlie Brooker, like with many “Black Mirror” episodes, wrote the script.

‘Black Mirror’ Season 4 Trailer: Find Your Perfect Match In ‘Hang The DJ’

By nature, an anthology series won’t hit it out of the park every time. When “Black Mirror” misses the mark, its often because the target it chooses is a bit on the nose, and I have to say, I’m getting that vibe from the latest season four teaser, for the episode “Hang The DJ.”

Directed by Tim Van Patten (“The Sopranos,” “Game of Thrones“), starring Georgina Campbell, Joe Cole, and George Blagden, and of course, written by the show’s creator Charlie Brooker, this entry takes a comedic look at online dating (though a bit more advanced).

‘Black Mirror’ Season 4 Trailer: Welcome To The ‘Black Museum’

It went a little something like this: rumors swirled that Netflix would drop “Black Mirror” on Black Friday over the Thanksgiving holiday break. It didn’t happen, but trailers for each episode in season four started arriving. That’s right, “Black Mirror” features six episodes this year, some from directors like John Hillcoat, Jodie Foster and Tim Van Patten (“Game Of Thrones,” “The Wire“) and each one is getting a promo.

‘Black Mirror: Arkangel’ Trailer: Jodie Foster’s Season 4 Episode Gives New Meaning to Helicopter Parenting

‘Black Mirror: Arkangel’ Trailer: Jodie Foster’s Season 4 Episode Gives New Meaning to Helicopter Parenting
In front of the camera, Jodie Foster has already played a mother trying to be a good parent under trying circumstances. In Season 4 of “Black Mirror,” she’s directing an episode that looks like a real panic room for 2017.

As part of its ongoing “13 Days of Black Mirror” celebration, Netflix released its first look at “Arkangel,” one of the six new upcoming installments of the anthology series.

Rosemarie DeWitt stars as a mother who resorts to drastic measures after her child nearly disappears. In order to keep tabs on her daughter when they’re apart, she goes to a very particular extreme to make sure it never happens again. True to the nature of “Black Mirror,” a very clean laboratory with impeccably clean, neutral-colored walls is involved.

From the looks of things, this episode also has at least one needle.

Growing up in a New York showbiz family — dad is “The Sopranos” and “Boardwalk Empire” director Tim Van Patten; uncle was veteran comic actor Dick Van PattenGrace Van Patten seemed destined to carry on the family tradition.

But it wasn’t until she took time off after graduating Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts to take a few college courses that she realized acting was her singular passion.

“I wanted to experience other things and make sure that acting was something I wanted to do,” says Van Patten. “I knew I loved acting so much, but I hadn’t admitted to myself that it was really what I wanted to pursue, probably because I didn’t have the full confidence.”

That soon changed once the budding ingénue landed roles in the horror thriller

The Best TV Directors of All Time – IndieWire Critics Survey

The Best TV Directors of All Time – IndieWire Critics Survey
Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: Who is the best TV director? Why? (For old, current or upcoming shows.)

Marisa Roffman (@marisaroffman), TV Guide Magazine

The recent Emmy Awards was a good reminder of just how great television directors are right now. It was the best overall crop we’ve had in years, and one of the few categories where it felt like it could have gone any way.

But in terms of best television director, I’m partial to David Nutter. His 30-plus year resume is impressive (“The Sopranos,” “ER,” “The X-Files,” plus an Emmy win for “Game of Thrones”) and wildly varied (he’s done procedurals like “Without a Trace,

‘Black Mirror’ Season 4 Reveals Trailer, Episode Information

‘Black Mirror‘ is a show that I absolutely love. In what is the closest thing to a modern day ‘Twilight Zone‘, creator/show runner Charlie Booker‘s hypnotic series has managed to captivate audiences in it’s first three seasons. The show – which was originally aired on BBC – was expanded to a six episode format after Netflix picked up the show for it’s third, and now fourth season, and is highly anticipated to say the least.

Season 3 was backed by some incredible talent, and based on the trailer for season 4, this trend seems to be continuing. In particular, this upcoming season provides a hefty dose of talent in the director’s chair that includes: Jodie Foster, John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless), David Slade (Hannibal), Colm McCarthy(Peaky Blinders) and Toby Haynes (Dr Who), Tim Van Patten(The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire).
