Robert Irvine to Launch Talk Show on CW Daytime Lineup (Exclusive)

Celebrity chef Robert Irvine is setting aside his pots and pans for his latest TV series, a “Dr. Phil”-esque talk show from Tribune Studios to air on CW stations.

“The Robert Irvine Show” will take the place of “The Bill Cunningham Show” in the 3 p.m. Monday-Friday slot on Tribune-owned stations and other CW affiliates starting in September. The series will feature Irvine — known for hosting Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible” and for his regular appearances on foodie TV shows — dishing up tough-love advice and conflict resolution options for everyday people facing a range of problems.

John Irwin (“Couples/Family Therapy”) is exec producing “Robert Irvine” with Irvine and Andrew Scher (“The Doctors”). The series will originate in Los Angeles.

Years after Steve McQueen’s character helped stop the Blob from absorbing an entire small town, the gelatinous terror returned to ooze eerily in Beware! The Blob (aka Son of Blob) Earlier this year, Kino Lorber announced that they were releasing the 1972 sequel on Blu-ray and DVD, and now they have revealed the debut date, cover art, and special features for the home media release.

James Sheldon, Prolific TV Director, Dies at 95

TV director James Sheldon, who worked on hundreds of shows including “The Millionaire,” “The Twilight Zone,” “The Fugitive,” “Batman” and many more, died March 12. He was 95.

His son, Tony, told the New York Times that Sheldon died of complications from cancer at his Manhattan home.

Sheldon once estimated that he directed about 1,200 episodes of television over his long career. Among them are 44 episodes of “The Millionaire,” an entire season of “The Bing Crosby Show” and several episodes of “Room 222,” “Love, American Style,” “That Girl,” “The Fugitive” and “My Three Sons.” He also directed the pilot of “Family Affair.”

His career also included six episodes in the second and third seasons of “The Twilight Zone,” featuring such classics as “I Sing the Body Electric” and “A Penny for Your Thoughts.” He helmed an episode of “Batman” in 1966, featuring Julie Newmar as Catwoman.

Is Spaceballs 2 finally happening? Fans are asking that question in earnest today, as posters for the sequel mysterious appeared in New York. Last year, original director Mel Brooks teased that he was actually moving forward on a Spaceballs sequel to capture some of the hype surrounding Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And he even had a title, Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money. Here's what he had to say about a follow-up to his 1987 classic Spaceballs.

"If I did a movie that came out right after Star Wars comes out - maybe a couple of months later - I'd have a big weekend, you know? Kino Lorber to Release Beware! The Blob on Blu-ray / DVD

Following the debut of Irvin Yeaworth Jr.'s The Blob in 1958, filmgoers were safe from its absorbent wrath until Beware! The Blob (aka Son of Blob) invaded the big screen in 1972. Now Kino Lorber is looking to bring the oozing menace into living rooms with their newly announced Blu-ray and DVD release of The Blob sequel.

Kino Lorber revealed today that they will release Beware! The Blob on Blu-ray and DVD sometime in 2016. The enhanced release will benefit from a new HD master. No special features are known at this time, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further announcements.
