Popular actress' daughter becomes a heroine now!

Late actress Kalpana's daughter Sreesankhya, alias, Sreemayi, will be making her onscreen acting debut with the Malayalam film, Kunjiyammayum Anjumakkalum.

Sreesankhya, who's currently pursuing her Visual Communication degree in Chennai, will be seen as the female lead, in Kunjiyammayum..., directed by Sumesh Lal. The film will start rolling from January 2018, which also stars Kalabhavan Shajon, Tini Tom, Sreejith Ravi, Binu Pappu, Irshad, and others.

 

It maybe recalled that Sreesankhya's aunt and ace actress Urvashi introduced her to the media, during the press meet and audio launch of Unnodu Ka, last year.

Bramma's Magalir Mattum which released on Friday opened to mixed reviews. While many enjoyed the film and applauded the story of four women who go on a trip to rediscover themselves, some have questioned the film's understanding of women's empowerment.

However, word of mouth has been unanimous on one aspect - the film's cast. Actors Urvashi, Saranya, and Bhanupriya teamed up with Jyothika, who made her comeback to cinema two years ago.

'Magalir Mattum' Review: The film has its heart in the right place but falters

"I am the chief servant here. In return for the work I do, I get a place to stay, food and a little affection," says Banupriya, holding a ladle and smiling wryly, as an open-mouthed Urvashi looks on unblinking.

With these words, the actor essaying the role of a homemaker who runs a family in Agra, echoes the lament of women across the country. The smile accompanying this statement proves that little has changed for women since 1994, when the first Magalir Mattum released.

Jyothika's ‘Magalir Mattum’ to finally release on August 11

Having made a smashing comeback with 36 Vayadhinile couple of years ago, Jyothika currently awaits the release of another women-centric film, Magalir Mattum, which also stars Bhanupriya, Urvashi and Saranya Ponvannan. After struggling to find a suitable date for release, the film might finally hit the screens on August 11, thanks to the postponement of Ajith's Vivegam to August 24. While the makers are yet to make an official announcement, industry insiders have said the makers are seriously considering the date.

Happy: Suriya & Jyothika's next comes out clean

Suriya's 2D Entertainment's next upcoming film, Magalir Mattum starring Jyothika has undergone censor certification. The film directed by Bramma of Kuttram Kadithal fame with music by Ghibran has received a clean 'U' certificate from the Cbfc.

The movie has Urvashi, Saranya Ponvannan and Bhanupriya in the lead roles.The trailer of the film has already received a positive response from the public and the film is expected to hit the screens soon.

Latest update on Jyothika’s next!

Actress Jyothika who was previously seen in 36 Vayathinile is currently working on director Bramma’s second venture after his critically acclaimed Kuttram Kadithal.

The latest update on this project titled Magalir Mattum is that, Jyothika has begun dubbing for the film. Produced under the 2D Entertainment banner, Magalir Mattum has music by Ghibran and cinematography by Manikandan.

The ensemble cast also includes Saranya, Bhanupriya, Urvashi, Nassar and Livingston in crucial roles.

Jyothika’s film undergoes a crucial change!

As reported earlier, Jyothika is acting in a female-centric script titled Magalir Mattum directed by Kuttram Kadithal fame Bramma. Nassar, Livingston, Saranya, Bhanupriya, Urvashi, Maya Sundarakrishnan and Luthfudeen Baasha play pivotal roles while Ghibran takes care of the music department for this film bankrolled by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment.

Ace art director Santhanam was initially the man in charge of set works but according to the latest development, the makers have roped in art director Balachander to take care of the art department. Balachander is known for his works in films like Paradesi.

Kochi, July 6: It was not a scene out of a Malayalam film but real life drama as divorced star couple Manoj K. Jayan and actress Urvasi Friday came face-to-face in a Kerala court here over the custody of their child.

Their 10-year-old daughter Kunjatta also was present and she refused to accompany her mother, which forced the family court to ask Jayan to take her back to his home.

The two stars decided to separate.

Shaji Kailasha’s August 15 To Start Shooting By This Week

Director Shaji Kailash, who is making a sequel of director Sibi Malayil’s 1988 movie August 1, is going to start shooting of the movie by this week end.

The original movie had Malayalam film megastar Mammootty was seen playing the lead role of a Crime Branch Detective named ‘Perumal’ (Dsp). This officer fights against time to stop the looming murder attempt of the Kerala Chief Minister.

Mammootty will again don the role of the officer ‘Perumal’ in the sequel. The sequel, which has been titled August 15, will be shot entirely in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram. Mammootty will shot an entire movie here after a long time.

M Mani will be producing the movie under the banner of Aroma movies. The script of the sequel will be written by S N Swamy.
