In today’s TV news Roundup, USA Network announced its spring and summer slate, while Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood are set to host the 44th Daytime Emmy Awards.

USA Network has revealed its lineup of spring and summer programming, which features “The Sinner,” a mystery drama starring Jessica Biel, and new seasons for long-running “Suits” and “Shooter.”

The Sinner” examines the story of a woman who commits a shocking act of violence in a fit of rage, but cannot remember why. Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) is left to obsess over the motives behind her crime. The eight-episode thriller is based on Petra Hammesfahr’s book of the same name and is also executive produced by Biel. It premieres on Aug. 2 at 10 p.m./9c.

In today’s TV news roundup, Oprah Winfrey will make her first ever visit to CBS’ “The Talk,” while Investigation Discovery announces a new documentary on sexual assault on college campuses. 


Oprah Winfrey will be the featured guest on April 17th’s episode of the CBS daytime series “The Talk.” The philanthropist and broadcaster will spend the entirety of the hour-long episode talking with Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood about her new HBO film “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” and her new role as a special correspondent on “60 Minutes.”

TLC’s “Return to Amish‘s” fourth season will premiere April 30 at 8 p.m. The series picks back up with Mary, Abe, Rebecca, Sabrina, Jeremiah and Carmel as they try to adapt to life as ex-Amish. Six two-hour episodes will explore difficult decisions and new travails.

CBS, ‘Young & the Restless’ Top Daytime Emmy Award Nominations

CBS and its stalwart soap “The Young & the Restless” lead the pack in nominations for the 2017 Daytime Emmy Awards.

CBS grabbed a total of 70 noms, paced by “Young & the Restless” with 25 bids.

In the daytime entertainment talk show host heat, the contenders including newcomer Harry Connick Jr., for his syndicated series “Harry,” and Wendy Williams, for the syndicated “Wendy Williams Show.”

ABC’s “General Hospital” and CBS’ “Bold and the Beautiful” were second to “Y&R” with 23 noms apiece. Those three soaps plus NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” rounded out the drama series category.

In the running for entertainment talk show honors are ABC’s “The View” and CBS’ “The Talk,” the syndicated “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Maury” and “Live with Kelly.”

The ladies of The Talk paid tribute to Cher the best way they know how.

Julie Chen, Sheryl Underwood, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Aisha Tyler all took turns embodying a specific era of the icon's career for an episode that aired on Tuesday.

"I've been dieting since we heard that Cher was coming, so I can fit into the outfit," Underwood said.

The comedian went with the singer's getup from the "If I Could Turn Back Time" music video, while Chen opted for the unforgettable Bob Mackie outfit from the Oscars, Gilbert went with the Sonny and Cher era, Tyler took on '70s Cher and Osbourne dressed like Cher from her farewell tour.

"It's every girl's dream to be Cher for a day," Chen admitted.
