Hollywood loves a franchise and this year we've seen studios stretching sagas - and doubling the box office - by separating films into two parts, as happened with the conclusions of Twilight and Harry Potter and as will also be the case with The Hobbit.
Although a fairly unlikely contender for big-screen longevity - because of its seemingly simple road-racing concept and lack of a cherished literary source - The Fast And The Furious series is now extending itself even further.
We knew a sixth film was scheduled to arrive on May 27, 2013, and Vin Diesel says the story has become so big that they have decided to split it into a sixth and seventh instalment.
The 44-year-old actor, who stars as Dominic Toretto in the franchise about men with a passion for super-cars, told The Hollywood Reporter: "With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, »

In the true spirit of the franchise, star Vin Diesel has confirmed that a seventh "Fast & Furious" is already in the works—even though shooting the sixth hasn't started yet. (According to the action hero, the story is just "too massive" to be corralled into a single movie.)
Diesel explains that the scripts are being written simultaneously (which is a pretty tall order if you ask us, but we digress). No word yet on whether they will shoot the installments back-to-back or if the cast and crew will get a little break in between. But, let's be honest, this franchise isn't really about taking things slow.
Why the rush? It's really a matter of housekeeping. "With the success of the last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, »

Vin Diesel, star of the decade-long Fast & Furious franchise, has confirmed that in addition to the recently confirmed sixth movie, there will also be a Fast & Furious 7.
Speaking to THR, Diesel confessed that the scale of the story in the next instalment requires a seventh film, the script for which is being written alongside the sixth’s.
“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space,” he admitted.
The previous film which saw the return of Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Matt Schulze, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot and the welcome addition of Dwayne Johnson, proved the most successful film in franchise history.

As you can see Tyrese tweeted, "Js is up next!!" and Ken Jeong (The Hangover) replied with, "Js baby!!!." Tyrese noticed that the tweet was starting to get some attention and tried to snuff out the rumor that J.S. stood for Jason Staham. So lets believe that Tyrese didn't mean to imply that "Js" meant Jason Statham, then we still have one big question on our mind. Who is Js? I put together a list of actors who share the initials J.S., like: Jerry Seinfeld, Jerry Springer, Julia Stiles, Jessica Simpson, John Stamos, and Jon Stewart. The more I look at that list the more I hope and believe that Tyrese meant Jason Statham. Although a cameo with Jerry Springer interviewing Bumble Bee would be kind of sweet. What do you guys think? »
We all know by now that Transformers franchise lead Shia Labeouf will not be returning to the blockbusting series as hero Sam Witwicky. Rumours have been rife for a while now that Brit beefcake Jason Statham was to appear in the expected back-to-back shooting of a fourth and fifth entry. Now with the use of Twitter, could the franchises co-stars Tyrese Gibson and Ken Jeong given fans an indication of ‘The Staths’ casting? Have a read and judge for yourselves.
Gibson commented: @kenjeong Good seeing you last night bro. 1.1 Billion again welcome to the #TF3family you are funny as s—!!!!!!!! Js is up next!!” With Jeong replying: @Tyrese Great seeing you last night as well!! #TF3familyrules!!! Js baby!!!
So is ‘Js’ confirmation of Jason Statham as the new star of future battles between the Autobots and the Decepticons? We can only speculate but it certainly backs up the rumours. »

It seems that Paramount Pictures and Steven Spielberg were able to convince Michael Bay to return for a fourth "Transformers" film, under the condition he gets the chance to direct his $20 million "Pain and Gain" movie. There have been rumors that Shia Labeouf won't be brought back and that he will be replaced with Jason Statham. The actor denied reports, but it seems that there is a bit of truth to this. Thanks to Twitter, we know that "Transformers 3" stars Tyrese Gibson and Ken Jeong got together over the weekend to talk about the franchise. Tyrese wrote the following: "@kenjeong Good seeing you last night bro. 1.1 Billion again welcome to the #TF3family you are funny as s---!!!!!!!! Js is up next!!" Jeong replied: "@Tyrese Great seeing you last night as well!! #TF3 family rules!!! Js baby!!!" It is possible that "Js" stands for Jason Statham? »
There may or may not be more "Transformers" movies in Michael Bay's future, but for now, the stars who previously battled the robots in disguise are still getting along. "Transformers" actors Tyrese Gibson and Ken Jeong reunited over the weekend, and perhaps there's more than meets the eye to their mention of "Js" -- Jason Statham, perhaps? Your guess is as good as ours!
Meanwhile, "Harry Potter" and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" bad boy Tom Felton conquered Table Mountain over the weekend, Rainn Wilson made a shocking confession about his bathroom behavior and Christopher Mintz-Plasse may have stumbled upon his own secret Spider-Man origin.

With Transformers: Dark of the Moon breaking the magical billion dollar mark at the global box-office on its way to becoming one of the biggest hits of all time, it wasn't much of a surprise when producer Don Murphy began to talk about extending the Autobots' war against the Decepticons on the big screen, even going so far as to propose a second trilogy of movies. In October, Variety revealed that Hasbro were in discussions with in discussions with Paramount, executive producer Steven Spielberg and director Michael Bay about the future of the franchise and although it was thought that Bay would pass on directing duties on a fourth installment, it now seems that he's open to a return, with Vulture suggesting that Paramount "is not far from closing" a deal with the filmmaker to continue his Transformers adventure.
According to the report, the next installment in the blockbuster series »

While it’s safe to say I’m not a hardcore Transformers fan, the franchise does hold a place close to my heart, so the prospect of a third big screen outing for Optimus Prime and co. had me salivating with anticipation. After all I enjoyed Revenge of the Fallen- a fact in which I think I’m alone in amongst my fellow movie bloggers – so a new film had me giddy as a kid in a sweet shop.
So after all my excitement could Michael Bay’s third big-budget battling robot bonanza ever live up to what I wanted it to be? Hell yes!

It’s looking more and more plausible that the Tupac Shakur biopic John Singleton took from Antoine Fuqua isn’t happening. As ShowBlitz reports, the man most recently said to take it on has now ended talks with Universal, leaving the Stephen J. Rivele, Chris Wilkinson, and Steve Bagatourian-scripted movie in a tough spot. One point of speculation surrounding his generally vague departure is, quite simply, that the job of finding someone suitable to play the legendary rapper is far too difficult; it’s why Fuqua left in the first place. Unless someone can put their foot down on an actor (not literally), this thing might be dead in the water.
Singleton still has a film gestating at the moment, which Shadow&Act (via /Film) managed to get some information about from the man himself. During a talk at New York City’s Museum of the Moving Image, the director »

Update: After just a month, Singleton has abandoned the troubled Tupac Shakur biopic, seemingly for the same reasons as his predecessor Antoine Fuqua: the project just can't find its Tupac. Singleton has instead opted for an as-yet-untitled "crazy, dysfunctional love story", reuniting his Baby Boy team of Tyrese Gibson and Taraji P Henson. ...Well that didn't last long. Only last month there were reports that John Singleton was talking to Ice Cube about directing the Nwa movie Straight Outta Compton. Instead, it seems that Singleton is straight outta that project, and onto the Tupac Shakur biopic recently vacated by Antoine Fuqua.Fuqua is off to make Hunter Killer, having apparently struggled to cast a suitable Pac (clearly he wasn't keen on the much-mooted Anthony Mackie). Singleton, meanwhile, was kicking his heels waiting for New Line to make a decision about Compton, and was reportedly faced with the prospect of »
That long-gestating Tupac Shakur biopic is in need of a director once again, as John Singleton has dropped out of talks to helm. Antoine Fuqua was originally lined up to direct, but left the project due to difficulties with casting the lead role -- even a nationwide talent search failed to yield any candidates who passed muster -- and Singleton entered negotiations last month. Now, with the Shakur pic off his plate, Singleton's next project will be an untitled love story that reunites him with Baby Boy stars Tyrese Gibson and Taraji P. Henson. More after the jump. Though the Boyz n the Hood director's career hasn't been so hot lately -- his last film was the Taylor Lautner-starring Abduction, which landed with a thud -- Singleton seemed uniquely qualified to bring Shakur's dramatic tale to the big screen. The filmmaker had developed a friendly relationship with the rapper »

Alright... so we know that John Singleton is planning to reunite Taraji P. Henson and Tyrese Gibson in a new film, since they were last paired up in his 2001 drama Baby Boy; although, as has already been noted, this upcoming new film is Not a sequel to Baby Boy, and neither Singleton, nor the two actors have revealed much about what this secret new project. »
From vampires and werewolves to tights and superheroes, writer Melissa Rosenberg is following her big-screen success with a comic-inspired return to television.
Not to be confused with the J.J. Abrams espionage series of the same name, the Brian Michael Bendis penned comic Alias - retitled Aka Jessica Jones for the small screen - has been listed as one of several Marvel properties on their TV production shortlist. Taking a step toward getting a pilot, the ABC-controlled title announced last year that Twilight scribe Rosenberg would write and executive produce for the hopeful series.
In an update on plans for the show, Rosenberg expresses her enthusiasm to I Am Rogue: "Brian Michael Bendis is such an amazing storyteller. I read that comic book and I completely saw it on screen. There are things I took directly from the comic book and just put in the script. That was so much fun to do. »
