Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Hits $300 Million at the Box Office

8 July 2009 1:36 PM, PDT | From The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news

It’s another case of critics (and me) be damned … people are flocking to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Here’s the news release going inside the numbers …

After only 14-days in release, the worldwide hit “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” became the 2nd fastest film in movie history to earn $300 million in U.S. ticket sales, eclipsing the previous record-holder “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” by 2-days. From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg, the Paramount Pictures release trails only “The Dark Knight” in this record-setting achievement.

“Moviegoers everywhere propelled the film to this great success, paving the way for a phenomenal run” said Paramount Pictures Vice Chairman Rob Moore.

2007’s “Transformers” earned $319.2 million in its theatrical run, and more than $700 million worldwide. The sequel has already taken in over $600 million worldwide to date, conquering several records including:

Tyrese Gibson: Movie Star, Musician… Comic Book Mastermind?

8 July 2009 9:30 AM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

From Splash Page: Tyrese Gibson is a busy dude these days, between his record-breaking blockbuster “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” maintaining his multi-platinum selling music career, and dropping his face into a new field these days: comic books. When we caught up with the stocky star recently, he was eager to talk about teaming up with comics legend Todd McFarlane and the Image Comics team to publish “Mayhem!” next month.

“He’s a gun-slinging vigilante who seeks refuge from the basement of a church,” Tyrese said of the comics’ main character, who resembles the actor/singer/model in more ways than one. “He’s like a modern-day Robin Hood, who wants to take from the bad and give it back to the good and do whatever he can do to make life better in L.A.”

Michael Jackson’s Memorial Service, Emma Watson Gets Excited And Miley Cyrus Makes A Shake In Today’s Twitter-Wood

7 July 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

Michael Jackson’s death dominated tweets two weeks ago, and his memorial service today was no different. Reactions were mixed in the Twitter-Wood feed, but dependable tweeter Tyrese Gibson returned to his account with a shot from the service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Paris Hilton, Andy Milonakis and producer Jeff Katz were also among those sharing their thoughts.

There was plenty of pep elswhere in the Hollywood Twitterverse though. Emma Watson showed up to Tweet about her thoughts going into the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” premiere and Rose McGowan shared a pic of her puppy, who is apparently celebrating a birthday today. Check out all of this and the questionable shake that Miley Cyrus swears is delicious in the Twitter-Wood report for July 7, 2009.

The ‘Twilight’ Actor Who Won’t Attend Comic-Con, Robert McNamara And Harry Potter And In Today’s Twitter-Wood

6 July 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

It’s a chatty week in Hollywood with “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” premiering and Independence Day party-goers relating their experiences at P. Diddy’s White Party over the weekend. Still, with Michael Jackson’s funeral on Tuesday, the late King of Pop’s name is still fresh on the fingertips of many Tweeters, including Elizabeth Taylor and Tyrese Gibson. Yet another high-profile death sparked reactions in the Twitter-Wood feed as well today, however, with the passing of former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. Errol Morris, who directed the Oscar-winning 2003 film “The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara” offered his thoughts.

Elsewhere, Tom Felton continued his own dedicated Twitter coverage leading up the “Half-Blood Prince” premiere tomorrow night, and actor Gil Birmingham tweeted a public RSVP saying that he won’t be able to make Comic-Con in San Diego this year.

Diddy Hosts ‘White Party’ With Ashton Kutcher, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey

6 July 2009 8:42 AM, PDT | From MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news

Diddy engaged in his annual 4th of July tradition over the weekend by throwing his “White Party,” where guests wear all-white clothing. The party, co-hosted with Ashton Kutcher in Beverly Hills, greeted a star-studded guest list that included Demi Moore, Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, Chris Brown, Russell Brand, Tyrese Gibson and Jonah Hill.

The get-together wasn’t just an excuse to get ultra-famous people to adhere to a wacky dress code, though. The party was thrown to raise awareness for Malaria No More, a charity that seeks to fight the disease in Africa.

Has The A-Team’s B.A. Baracus Been Cast?

2 July 2009 10:54 PM, PDT | From FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news

Arguably the most difficult role to cast in The A-Team is B.A. Baracus. Why? Mr T is such an iconic personality, who would want to try and fill those boots?

Well Blackfilm.com have claimed to know exactly who wants to fill those boots - The Game! According to the site:

While casting is underway for the big screen adaptation on the long running TV series, ‘The A-Team,’ Blackfilm.com has exclusively learned that rapper The Game is being considered for the role of B.A Baracus, which was originated by Mr. T on the television show.

Online buzz has it that the role was going to another rapper-turned-actor, Common, but with his recent casting opposite Queen Latifah in ‘Just Right,’ he may not finish filming before ‘The A-Team’ get rolling in August. Other possible candidates have included Ice Cube and mixed martial arts fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Will The Game Play B.A. Baracus in 'The A-Team'?

2 July 2009 9:00 PM, PDT | From CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news

It's been previously speculated that Tyrese and Common were both in the running to join the cast of director Joe Carnahan's A-Team movie as BA Baracus, the role originated by Mr. T.

Common was recently cast opposite Queen Latifah in Just Right, and thus may not finish filming before The A-Team is due to begin production in August. BlackFilm is now claiming to have exclusively learned that Carnaham may end up giving the part to rapper The Game, who had a violent dispute with 50 Cent in 2005 and was sentenced to two months in jail last year for weapons charges.

Interestingly, The Game has previously starred with Tyrese in Waist Deep and with Common in Street Kings.

Meanwhile, Liam Neeson remains in negotiations to star as Hannibal Smith, while Bradley Cooper remains favored to play Templeton "Faceman" Peck.

The production will set up here in Vancouver later this month, while

The Game is B.A. in ‘The A-Team’?

2 July 2009 9:45 AM, PDT | From The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news

Coming off of news about a month ago that Bradley Cooper was joining the ‘Team’ as Templeton “Faceman” Peck, and then word that Liam Neeson was joining as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, it looks like rapper The Game is in “serious consideration” to take on the role of B.A. Baracus, joining Joe Carnahan’s cast in what is shaping up to be an interesting film.

According to Blackfilm.com, who has the exclusive, they say that The Game (real name Jayceon Taylor) is being seriously considered for the role, and will be going head-to-head with other potentials like Common, Ice Cube, and mixed martial artist Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. It looks like the role once portrayed by Mr. T is shaping up to be quite a battle of rappers, which can only help the film’s publicity.

As of today, The Game has only a handful of on-screen credits, ranging

Rapper The Game To Play B.A. Baracus In The A-Team?

2 July 2009 9:10 AM, PDT | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

There’s been a lot of casting rumors flying around about the upcoming A-Team movie. The only two castings that have been confirmed so far are Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper (playing Hannibal and Faceman, respectively). But probably the biggest role of interest (and the source of most of the A-Team rumors), is that of B.A. Baracus, the character made famous in the The A-Team tv show by Mr. T.

For some bizarre reason unknown to me (and I’m sure everyone else on the face of the Earth), rappers have been the rumored candidates to play B.A. (Ice Cube and Common were notable ones that turned out to be false).

Sadly, the rapper/B.A. Baracus rumors continue…

Blackfilm is reporting as an exclusive from, “a very highly reliable source in the entertainment industry,” that the rapper known as The Game is currently being considered for the role of B.

The Game is BA Baracus in The A-Team?

2 July 2009 8:30 AM, PDT | From WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news

We've previously heard that Tyrese and Common were both in the running to join the cast of "The A-Team" as BA Baracus, the role made famous by Mr T. Now, BlackFilm is reporting that director Joe Carnaham (Smokin' Aces) may end up giving the part to a rapper named The Game, who had a violent dispute with 50 Cent in 2005 and was sentenced to two months in jail last year for weapons charges. This isn't the first movie that The Game would appear in, funny-enough, he has previously starred with Tyrese in "Waist Deep" and with Common in "Street Kings." As previously reported, Liam Neeson is in negotiation to star as Hannibal Smith, and Bradley Cooper as Templeton "Faceman" Peck. Click here to read more about "The A-Team."

Rapper 'The Game' Might Be The A-Team's B.A. Baracus?

2 July 2009 2:46 AM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

I don't know why everyone is so anxious to find out casting on Joe Carnahan's The A-Team. This isn't the first time we've heard rumors about who might be playing the contemporary B.A Baracus. At one point it was rapper-turned actor Common who had emerged as the frontrunner. Now, according to our friend Wilson at BlackFilm.com, another rapper-turned-actor is being considered - The Game. I'm not sure where they even got this scoop, but they do mention that other possible candidates include Ice Cube and Mma fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. So it doesn't look like The Game has been given this role just yet. The Game, also known as Jayceon Terrell Taylor, made his acting debut opposite Tyrese Gibson in Waist Deep in 2006. He also appeared alongside of Common in Street Kings but hasn't done much other acting. Okay, so here's the thing, I know he's not the greatest actor,

Kevin Smith Gets a Few More ‘Dicks’

30 June 2009 1:49 PM, PDT | From FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news

And the casting news just keeps on rolling in. Just yesterday we announced with almost the same pun that old friend and sometimes beard-mate Jason Lee would be joining Kevin Smith's latest endeavor. Today, it looks as though comedian Jim Norton and Michelle Trachtenberg are joining the fray. According to /film, Trachtenberg is joining A Couple of Dicks as the daughter of Bruce Willis's detective character, and Norton is joining up as her step-father. I'm hoping for some Willis/Norton conflict on the horizon. Some fans will know Trachtenberg from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but I take it all the way back to when I first fell in love with her on "Pete and Pete." What a great show. I'm sure Fsr fans will have already heard the rumors that she and I are not dating, but I can neither confirm or deny any gossip. On the flip side, Jim Norton

Tyrese Gibson on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Saving the world from killer robots is a full time job. Tyrese Gibson plays a soldier in the Transformers films. In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, he.s promoted to the Nest division which rounds up rogue Decepticons with the help of Autobots. Keeping up with the filming also required Gibson to up his usual workout regimen.

Tyrese Gibson on Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

.We worked out twice a day,. Gibson said. .We worked out before we went to the set and after the set we would come and get our five miles in..

Gibson knew how tough it was to play a soldier, so his preparation helped him ease into the second film. .I would say honestly that the first go-round was so much more intense than the second, because we kinda went into it not knowing too much of nothing about the Air Force,
