Noah’s Compass is an inconsequential little slip of a novel, but it’s written so well that it goes down easily enough. The entire course of the plot becomes fairly obvious 50 pages in, but that isn’t always a bad thing, and Anne Tyler portrays the characters distinctively enough that spending time with them is mostly enjoyable.
