He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Radio at 1560 Vine Street in Hollywood, California on January 10, 1990.
At the time of his death, Tuna was living in Tarzana, California, where he had served as the city's Honorary Mayor since 1977.
Inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 1999.
Inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame on November 8, 2008.
