Exclusive: WTFilms reveals the first image of Sook-Yin Lee’s new feature.

Paris-based WTFilms has released a first image of Sarah Gadon and Raoul Trujillo in Canadian director Sook-Yin Lee’s new feature Octavio Is Dead!, which is currently shooting.

Billed as a mysterious, sensual ghost story, the film stars Gadon as a reserved young woman called Tyler, who escapes her overbearing mother, played by Rosanna Arquette, and enters the rich and strange world of her deceased father, Octavio (Trujillo).

“The dailies are electric. On screen, Sarah Gadon, Raoul Trujillo and Rosanna Arquette build passionate, complex and haunting relationships,” said WTFilms co-founder Gregory Chambet.

The feature is produced by Jennifer Weiss, Simone Urdl and Jamie Manning of The Film Farm with the participation of Telefilm Canada, CBC, and the Ontario Media Development Corporation. »

Shooting underway in Montreal on historical drama features Vincent Perez and French-Canadian rapper Samian.

Anick Poirier and her team will launch sales in Berlin next week on the story that François Girard (The Red Violin) directs from his own screenplay.

Roger Frappier, whose credits include Two Lovers And A Bear and Jesus Of Montreal, produces through his Max Films.

Hochelaga spans 750 years and five stories set on the site of Montreal that link an Iroquoian massacre in 1267, Jacques Cartier’s first voyage in 1535, the purple fever epidemic in 1687, the Patriots uprising in 1837 and brain surgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute in 1944.

Perez and Samian are among an ensemble that includes Naiade Aoun, Raoul Trujillo, Emmanuel Schwartz, David La Haye, Karelle Tremblay, Caroline Dhavernas, Linus Roache, and Sian Phillips.

Sarah Gadon, Rosanna Arquette and Raoul Trujillo board ghost film Octavio is Dead!

According to Variety, an upcoming ghost story film from Year of the Carnivore director Sook-Yin Lee is about to begin production, and just found its three stars.

Titled Octavio is Dead!, the movie will shoot in and around Toronto from January 22nd to February 13th, and will star Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction, Ray Donovan), Sarah Gadon (11.22.63, Indignation) and Raoul Trujillo (Sicario, Soldado).

Written and directed by Lee, Octavio is Dead! is stars Gadon as a daughter of an overbearing mother (Arquette) who “enters a rich and strange world of her deceased father (Trujillo) – a man she never knew. Sexual identity, the occult, and the power of will versus imagination confront her on her journey.”

Gadon will also executive produce, alongside producers Jennifer Weiss, Simone Urdl and Jamie Manning. »

Sarah Gadon, Raoul Trujillo and Rosanna Arquette are starring in Sook-Yin Lee’s ghost story “Octavio Is Dead!” Variety has learned exclusively.

“Octavio” will shoot in and around Toronto between Jan. 22 and Feb. 13. Written and directed by Lee, the film is produced by the Film Farm’s Jennifer Weiss, Simone Urdl and Jamie Manning.

Gadon is also acting as an exec producer on the project. She portrays the daughter of her overbearing mother (Arquette) and enters the rich and strange world of her deceased father (played by Trujillo) — a man she never knew. Sexual identity, the occult, and the power of will versus imagination confront her on the journey. Dimitris Kitsos also stars as Octavio’s student Apostolis.

The film is produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada and the Ontario Media Development Corporation. It’s represented internationally by sales agent WTFilms.
