'Bud' is a family nickname for Charles Tingwell.

Served with Britain's Royal Air Force during WW2, where he flew photo reconnaissance Spitfires in North Africa.

He had two children, son Christopher and daughter Virginia Tingwell, who is also an actress.

He was awarded the A.M. (Member of the Order of Australia) in the 1999 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the performing arts as an actor, director, producer, and to the community.

He was given a State Funeral, held in St. Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne.
