Malek Akkad Talks New Halloween Film

29 June 2014 4:21 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

So the big question everyone has been wondering since the announcement of the next Halloween film was whether or not it would continue on in the universe set up by Rob Zombie. Recently Collider caught up with Malek Akkad at the Saturn Awards, who shed some light on the subject.

“I can’t talk about it too much right now," says Akkad. "It will definitely keep elements and bring in new elements. But I really want to bring it back to kind of like, the classic – because the last one got a little dark – I want to bring it back to the classic Friday night horror film that people will really like.”

When asked about the ill-fated Halloween 3D, which was announced a couple of years back...

"Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier did a script. The next day after the last one came out, we were back in production for Halloween 3D. »

Review: Deep in the Darkness is Another Dull Chiller Effort

13 May 2014 6:30 AM, PDT | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

We all choose our vices. For the small town of Ashborough, New Hampshire (population 1,712), cable television is the one thing that can drive a community apart. Cable is not allowed. Automobiles, the Internet, telephones, and pretty much every other modern amenity are just fine and apparently do nothing to dissolve a community. As soon as people can watch The Walking Dead, everything immediately collapses. Dr. Michael Cayle (Sean Patrick Thomas) and his family will just have to learn to live without cable. They are new residents of Ashborough. Michael purchased the town’s only medical practice along with the late doctor’s sprawling house. Unfortunately for the young doctor and his family, they chose a town plagued by “isolates,” a breed of wild men that have lived in the area for centuries. The wild men co-star in Chiller’s latest original movie, Deep in the Darkness, premiering on Friday, May 23rd. »

Ice Cube returning for Barbershop 3

28 March 2014 12:19 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

MGM has just announced that it will be making a third Barbershop movie and Ice Cube is set to reprise his starring role as well as produce. It's been 10 years since the second movie was released but MGM is hoping Cube's recent success in movies such as 21 Jump Street and this year's Ride Along will have fans returning to the series.

Both movies focused on Ice Cube as Calvin Palmer, a barbershop owner in South Side Chicago. He inherited the shop from his father and wants to carry on his legacy but struggles to keep everything financially stable. Along with Cube there is a pretty impressive cast in both movies that include Cedric The Entertainer, Queen Latifah, Michael Ealy, Eve, Sean Patrick Thomas and Anthony Anderson. No word on if any other cast members are returning, however MGM for sure wants to get Cedric The Entertainer and Queen Latifah back for the third movie. »

Ice Cube is finalizing a deal to star in and produce Barbershop 3 for MGM Studios, which is clearly trying to create a stable of franchises to build off the success of The Hobbit and their James Bond movies. Along with this sequel in the works, the studio will release Hot Tub Time Machine 2 at the end of this year, Poltergeist next summer, and they are also hoping to turn Dwayne Johnson's Hercules into a franchise. MGM is also working on an animated version of The Addams Family.

Ice Cube will return as Calvin, the barbershop owner he portrayed in 2002's Barbershop and 2004's Barbershop 2: Back In Business. The studio hopes to bring back Cedric the Entertainer, who appeared in both movies as Eddie, and Queen Latifah, who played Gina in Barbershop 2: Back In Business and the 2005 spin-off Beauty Shop. 'Cruel Intentions,' 15 years later: A definitive power list

5 March 2014 2:21 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The messed-up machinations of bored, oversexed stepsiblings Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastian Valmont aren’t quite as shocking in 2014 as they were when Cruel Intentions was released on March 5, 1999. (Blame Gossip GirlPretty Little Liars, and a zillion other glitzy/scandalous imitators.)

That said, Cruel Intentions is still an enormously entertaining teen movie, even 15 years (gulp) after its initial release — thanks to an uncommonly sharp script, a killer soundtrack, and, most importantly, an impeccable cast, which featured future Oscar winners and future Sharknado stars alike. Well, one of each, but you get the picture. Whoever headed up this franchise had a »
