Taken: how does the TV series measure up so far?

Were we, ahem, taken by Amazon Prime's new TV version of the Liam Neeson action franchise?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock since 2008, you’ll all know about Taken. If anyone wants to point to the starting point of the so-called “geriaction” genre that has been nearly omnipresent for the last decade, they could do much worse than to start here. It was also the film that made Liam Neeson the brilliant but unlikely action star he remains to this day.

In Taken, Neeson plays Bryan Mills, the former CIA operative with a special set of skills who is in a fight against time (and the entire population of Albania, apparently) to rescue his kidnapped daughter before she disappears forever. It was an unexpected and profitable hit.

Source Code First Five Minutes
Moon director Duncan Jones will release his latest sci-fi thriller Source Code on April 1st. Apparently, Summit Entertainment is concerned that the paying public isn't up to speed on what this mash-up of Groundhog Day, Speed, and The Matrix actually is. To help get folks acquainted with the concept, which sees Jake Gyllenhaal jumping into the body of another man to save a commuter train from a bomb explosion, Summit has recruited Pee Wee Herman to explain the plot. They've also released the first five minutes of the movie to hopefully entice those still on the fence about attending the movie's opening weekend. You can check out the opening moments of Source Code, along with Pee Wee Herman and Jake Gyllenhaal, in the clips below.

Exclusive: Jake Gyllenhaal Talks Prince of Persia Sequel and Source Code

Jake Gyllenhaal discusses a possible sequel Actor Jake Gyllenhaal first gained notice for his intense work in dramatic films like Donnie Darko, Moonlight Mile, and Jarhead, but it was his role in the film Brokeback Mountain that earned him an Oscar nomination and made him a household name. The actor now takes on a new challenge, that of action hero in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced Disney film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Which is based on the classic video game and opens on May 28th. While the film doesn't even hit theaters for another week, rumors have already begun to swirl about a possible sequel.
