Appear on Broadway with Billy Dee Williams in August Wilson play Fences in 1987

She recreated her role as "The Chief" from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" in Broderbund's "Carmen Sandiego" video game series.

Thigpen did voiceovers for audiobooks, recording many works by African-American authors including Toni Morrison's "Jazz" and "Song of Solomon." Also recorded Ernest Gaines' "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" and Zora Neale Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God."

She was part of Garrison Keilor's American Radio Company Of The Air, his replacement of Prairie Home Companion for the years 1989-1992.
