Virgilio Teixeira was born on October 26, 1917 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. He was an actor, known for The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958), The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964) and Return of the Magnificent Seven (1966). He was married to Vanda. He died on December 5, 2010 in Funchal.

One of Portugal's most popular leading actors from the mid-1940s, who enjoyed equally great success in the Spanish cinema. His last film was shot on location in 2009 on his native island of Madeira.
Because of his strong resemblance to actor Tyrone Power,producers were ready to finish shooting the film with Texeira. The insurance company intervened and thought it would be more cost-efficient to reshoot the entire film with another international star.
Was a Portuguese actor, most known for his movies between the 40's and the 60's. Worked also in Spain and in Hollywood in the late 50's and 60's.
Father of two, one of them is Pedro Teixeira.
Played an uncredited, but famous role in "Dr. Zhivago" as the Captain standing on a barrel who tries to convince the deserting soldiers to fight the invading Germans. As he steps forward, he falls into the water filled barrel and is shot dead by one of the deserting soldiers.
