The Lake Placid and Anaconda franchises are set to collide in the upcoming feature Lake Placid Vs. Anaconda. Production is slated to begin this December in Bulgaria, although it isn't known who is writing, directing or starring in this direct-to-video release.
No story details have been confirmed, although the vicious crocodiles of Lake Placid will undoubtedly come in contact with a gigantic Anaconda, and they will have an epic water battle unlike anything seen before.
The Anaconda franchise was launched in 1997 with a theatrical feature that starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight. It spanwned the straight-to-video sequels Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), Anaconda 3: The Offspring (2006) and Anaconda 4: Trail of Blood (2009).
1999's Lake Placid was also a theatrical offering, starring Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda and Oliver Platt, before spawning the straight-to video sequels Lake Placid 2 (2007), Lake Placid 3 (2010) and last year's Lake Placid: The Final Chapter. »
Mighty Thor is the bad guy in “Vikingdom: The Red Eclipse,” which also distinguishes itself from his recent Marvel screen adventures by having been produced on a fraction of their budgets. This first serious stab at Western markets by Malaysia’s Kru Studios is a cheerfully silly action fantasy more comparable to the vintage juvenile likes of Italian sword ‘n’ sandal epics, Ray Harryhausen pics, kiddie-matinee serials and goofy kung fu fantasies than to today’s superhero tentpole extravaganzas; fanboys, of course, will howl in pain nonetheless. Day-and-date U.S. release on Oct. 4 (with some screens showing 3D prints) is likely to get a kinder reception on the VOD side; rollout in numerous other territories continues through year’s end and beyond.
After an opening-credits segment that makes no bones about looking just like a videogame, we get a bloody CGI battlefield where Viking prince Eirick (Dominic Purcell) lies dying, »

Former Uwe Boll actors Dominic Purcell and Natassia Malthe team up to take on an evil Thor in Yusry Abd Halim’s expensive looking action-adventure fantasy epic “Vikingdom”. Thor is up to no good in this one, which will probably make the Odin Father very angry. Where’s Loki when you need him? Maybe Marvel can spare Tom Hiddleston to make a cameo. Couldn’t hurt to ask, right? Or maybe one of Thor’s fellow Avengers… Anyhoo. Check out a pair of trailers and a batch of images from the film. It actually looks pretty good. Or at least, very interesting. Jon Foo of “Tekken” fame is in this one, too. (Or Jon Foo of “Tekken” infamy in case you didn’t like “Tekken”. To each his own.) In the midst of time comes the clanging of steel against steel, a collision of myth and history…. “Vikingdom”. Based on »
Malaysian produced modest budget actioner Vikingdom: The Blood Eclipse does a damn fine job at disguising its non-Hollywood origins in this latest trailer. Starring Prison Break‘s Dominic Purcell as a viking forced with taking on Thor, the God of thunder, Vikingdom: The Blood Eclipse may lack some of the polish we come to associate with big action adventures, but the scope and ambition still impress. Directed by Yusry Abd Halim, the film will be receiving a theatrical and VOD release on 4th October.
