Below are a synopsis, promo photos, a promo and four sneak peeks for the episode.  The mid-season finale of Bones will be airing this week on December 9 on Fox.

'Bones': The man who pushed a deer up a hill but came down a mountain

11 November 2010 10:29 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) exist in a state of timeless sexual prime, so it's a tough pull accepting an opening scene that suggests even one of them is aging.

But if imploring a little suspension of disbelief is what it takes for an episode about a cougar cruise, Aye, aye, matey!

"Bones" took to the high seas (or Chesapeake Bay) this week, with "The Shallow in the Deep," which gave us two skeleton-based storylines: one about a young man who met his demise wooing older women and another about a group of slaves who died en route to New Orleans in the 19th century.

Oh, and we finally got a romantic resolution to that whole "will they/won't they" thing -- for Sweets (John Francis Daley) and Daisy (Carla Gallo), chumps!

Alright, let's break it down the only way we know how.

'Bones': Hard-hearted Hannah, the vamp of Anacostia, DC

4 November 2010 8:27 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Bones" fans not falling in love with Hannah (Katheryn Winnick) were probably delighted during the series' first post-World Series outing, "The Bones That Weren't," when she almost died.

That certainly didn't take long. Hannah was shot in the line of journalism duty, during a brief dalliance from covering the White House press room to delve back into investigative journalism. Spoiler alert: she's Ok. But it's not like they could make a martyr out of her -- at least this soon.

This shippy drama was all set to the previously talked-about "street performer" episode, which ended up featuring a lot more of "So You Think You Can Dance" alum Twitch than we expected. (Another thing we hadn't expected: ballerinas have way bigger 'tudes than b-boys.)

But let's not mix our right and left brains. We know how you "Bones" fans hate that so.

'Bones' season premiere: It's not easy being the lynchpin

23 September 2010 7:15 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

To paraphrase a commenter who clearly shares my worldview, our national nightmare is over. "Bones" is finally back, and whether you tune in for the forensic high jinks or the sexual tension, we can all agree it was a stand-up episode.

And since we all know there are two camps of "Bones" fans, let's break down some of "The Mastodon in the Room's" biggest moments and takeaways by the organ they cater to -- your brain and your heart, perverts.

For the squints:

-"Bones" has always done an admirable job of balancing patriotism with questioning authority, so after Parker's somewhat left-field request for his father to go to Afghanistan in the season finale, we get a new storyline about the powers that be trying to conceal Cam's (Tamara Taylor) findings on veterans with brain damage -- something the actress says we'll see more of.

When we left "Bones" last May, the characters were scattering in myriad directions, with Booth going off to war, Bones going off on a research trip and Hodgins and Angela heading off to Paris, pretty much leaving poor Cam all alone.   It probably shouldn't come as any surprise, then, that Thursday (Sept. 23) night's "Bones" premiere is all about getting the band back together with a mystery that requires each of them and their individual fields of expertise.    Last week, I caught up with Tj Thyne and Tamara Taylor to discuss the "Bones" premiere and what's on tap for »

'Bones'' Tamara Taylor: 'Nikita' won't keep Cam from her TV daughter

23 September 2010 3:20 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Bones" star Tamara Taylor is not keeping close tabs on her adopted TV daughter, Tiffany Hines. When Zap2it caught up with her at Fox's fall premieres event, she hadn't even heard about her new gig on "Nikita."

"Tiffany's gone? Good for her, this is the first I've heard of it," she confesses. "I love that."

But Taylor doesn't think that will get in the way of seeing more of Cam's new daughter Michelle in Season 6. "Obviously, it's going to be less than I thought, but I'm sure we'll be able to get her back for a day or two."

We hope so -- especially because Michelle's gynecologist is Cam's new beau. "Gyno boyfriend is coming back," laughs Taylor, who couldn't reveal any more about his return, "Inappropriate as it is."

But it's not all doctor boyfriends and assassin daughters for Cam this season. As we previously told you, the »

Goodbye and Hello: An Advance Review of the Sixth Season Premiere of Bones

23 September 2010 8:55 AM, PDT | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

What happens when the glue holding a group of people together takes off for far-flung adventure? What happens to those left behind? And is it ever possible to bring those now distant people back together again? Can you fix what's been broken? Those are the questions hovering over the action on tonight's sixth season premiere of Fox's Bones ("The Mastodon in the Room"), which sees the gang at the Jeffersonian attempt to reform the gang when their individual sabbaticals come to abrupt ends. The cause? An effort to save the career of Cam (Tamara Taylor), undergoing intense scrutiny when she lacks the certainty to identify the skeletal remains of a child in the face of a massive media blitz for a controversial story: the disappearance of a two-year old boy. Is the tiny skeleton in the morgue the boy that everyone's looking for? Or is it an unrelated crime? Up until now, »
