New Paddington 2 Trailer Locks the Lovable Bear in Jail

New Paddington 2 Trailer Locks the Lovable Bear in Jail
Warner Bros. has released the first full U.S. trailer for Paddington 2, which is slated for release on January 12, 2018, following a successful U.K. release. This trailer comes less than two weeks after Warner Bros. acquired Paddington 2 from The Weinstein Company, after the producers wanted to remove all association with Harvey Weinstein following his sexual assault scandal. Now that this delightful family film has found a new home, this trailer offers some more never before seen footage featuring the title bear (Ben Whishaw) being locked up in jail.

The previous trailers, which had been released by the international distributor StudioCanal, hinted that Paddington Bear would ultimately get in some trouble with the law, but this new trailer reveals that he was framed for stealing a rare and valuable book, which leads to Paddington being locked up in prison. He doesn't get off to a good start with his fellow inmates either,

Warner Bros. has won the bidding war for Paddington 2 from The Weinstein Company

Warner Bros. has triumphed in the bidding war for the domestic rights to Paddington 2.

After the fall from grace of The Weinstein Company following the myriad sexual misconduct allegations towards Harvey Weinstein, the independent studio was looking to offload the distribution rights to Paddington 2 before it files for bankruptcy protection.

Warner Bros. has succeeded in attaining the Us distribution rights to the film and is keeping the January 12 release date that was already planned.

The original Paddington over-peformed upon its release in 2015, bringing in $76 million in the Us and $191 million from foreign markets.

Paddington 2 opened last weekend in the UK to $10.9 million, which is a whopping 60% above the first movie. The film is fully financed by Studiocanal, with they and The Weinstein Company/Dimension Film originally distributing in the Us in Canada.

Paddington 2 is huge at the UK box office

Much like its loveable CGI star, Paddington 2 has proved to be that rarest of creatures, a sequel that surpasses the original, and now it’s replicating the critical success at the box office.

Studiocanal’s sequel has knocked Murder On the Orient Express from the top spot with an estimated £8.2m over the weekend. The first film opened with £5.13m in 2014, before going on to gross £37.9m. Paddington 2 also topped the studio’s biggest UK opening weekend ever, which was held by Tom Hardy vehicle Legend with £5.19m.

Kenneth Branagh shouldn’t be too miffed at the bear, because although Express was derailed, it suffered a miniscule drop of 12%, to earn £4.4m and a running cume of £13m after ten days.

Thor: Ragnarok fell to third, but in doing so became the eighth highest grossing Marvel movie in the UK with £25.87m.

  • DailyDead
Jesse Custer may have the heavenly power of Genesis, but that doesn't stop him from raising a little (or a lot of) hell wherever he goes, especially with the Saint of Killers hot on his trail in the second season of Preacher, coming to Blu-ray and DVD beginning November 14th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment:

Preacher: Season Two Ratings

In its first 10-episode season, the Preacher TV show was AMC's fourth highest rated series in the 18-49 year old demo and ranked fifth, in terms of total viewers. Because of that, it is really no surprise that AMC renewed it for an expanded second season of 13 episodes. Will their faith be rewarded? Will Preacher be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. A darkly comedic AMC supernatural drama from creators Sam Catlin, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, Preacher stars Dominic Cooper, Joseph Gilgun, Ruth Negga, Ian Colletti, and Graham McTavish. Noah Taylor, Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery, Malcolm Barrett, Justin Prentice, and Ronald Guttman join in the second season. AMC teases that Preacher season two follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Cooper), along with his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Negga) and Irish vampire Cassidy (Gilgun) as they take off

Preacher Season 2 Episode 13 Review – ‘The End of the Road’

Martin Carr reviews the season 2 finale of Preacher

Preacher has redeemed itself with a season closer brimming over with invention, heart wrenching emotion and caustic cultural reference. Meandering, concise, far-fetched and theologically challenging, Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy are back on point while Herr Starr is gloriously dry witted and indifferent. Whether choreographing fist fights to classic George Harrison or taking a side swipe at the fickle nature of celebrity, ‘Preacher’ retains a freshness and dramatic balance which bodes well for season three.

Joseph Gilgun takes centre stage fighting inner demons, carnal temptations and bloodlust whilst his son Dennis does nothing but quietly goad him on. These scenes combined with the slow motion knife fight ten minutes in, serve as our dramatic meat and potatoes for this episode. Sound effects play a major part in dialling down extraneous noise, drawing you into Cassidy’s consciousness and challenging our perspective. Deceptively simple

Preacher Season 2 Episode 12 Review – ‘On Your Knees’

Martin Carr reviews the twelfth episode of Preacher season 2…

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned if the good book is to be believed. However that anger rarely manifests itself in the form of a twelve gauge shotgun blast aimed between her eyes. So it is we are dropped into a prologue where blood spattered wallpaper and purgatorial blame gets laid upon Eugene Root repeatedly. Ian Coletti and Noah Taylor make for an odd couple in these initial ten minutes as together they look for the emergency exit.

In that time we see integrity, backbone and honesty save Eugene from perpetual replay. Self-motivation, emotional manipulation and rejection are all levelled at him in an attempt to create a crack, but Hell has taught Eugene the value of self-worth who remains impervious. Back in the land of a Godless reality someone has let Hell loose wrapped in cowhide, serious beard growth and divine retribution.
