Julianne Moore to star in After the Wedding remake

Oscar winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice) has signed on to appear in After the Wedding, a remake of Susanne Bier’s Academy Award-nominated Danish drama, which is being written and directed by Bart Freundlich (The Rebound).

The project will reimagine the original film – which starred Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) and Sidse Babett Knudsen (Westworld) – and feature two female leads, with the story focussing on motherhood and family.

“We are overjoyed to have Bart as a partner in this project that has been a long time labour of love,” said producers Joel Michaels (Terminator Salvation) and Silvio Muraglia (Black Butterfly). “He’s reimagined a brilliant retelling of Susanne Bier’s acclaimed and potent drama. We are further blessed to be working with Julianne Moore who remarkable talent brings depth and sincerity to every role she portrays.”

“Bart has written an emotional powerhouse of a screenplay,” added Alison Thompson and Mark Gooder from Cornerstone Films.

Christopher Lloyd has been cast in the NBC comedy pilot “Guess Who Died,” Variety has learned.

He joins previously announced cast members Hector Elizondo and Holland Taylor, playing the role of Mort. Crusty and grumpy, puttering along slowly in his golf cart at Las Esperanzado Senior Community, Mort is described as a man of mystery and wealth.

Based on Lear’s personal experience of working well into his 90’s, the single-camera series is described as a humorous and inspiring look at the shared joys and challenges people experience at any stage of life. Elizondo will play Murray, a positive and upbeat senior with sparkling eyes and a keen, sharp and wonderful sense of humor, who lives with his wife in the Las Esperanzado Senior Community in Palm Springs. NBCUniversal’s branded content offerings have thrived with campaigns tied to such Peacock hits as “This Is Us” and Today” as well as wholly original campaigns not connected to any NBCU properties. The company’s campaigns have ranged from emotional tributes to family fare to online comedy.

Many branded content studios aspire to the same success, but NBCU’s branded content operations have a secret weapon few of its rivals can match: It recruits talent from NBCU TV shows to staff branded content offerings.

“At NBC we have a team at the Content Studio that actually maps our organization, to help brands create original content by tapping into storytellers,” said Wendy Wildfeuer, senior VP of NBCUniversal’s Content Studio, on Thursday at the Brand Storytelling conference in Park City, Utah (co-located with the start of the Sundance Film Festival).

Union will star as Syd Burnett, her character from “Bad Boys 2.” In the show, she has left the DEA and now has a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She’s partnered with Nancy McKenna, a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy. These two have totally different lifestyles and approaches, but they both are at the top of their fields. Union will also executive produce in addition to starring.

Jack Huston and Maximiliano Hernandez cast in Mr. Mercedes season 2

With production on the second series of Mr. Mercedes set to get underway in South Carolina next month, Deadline is reporting that Jack Huston (Ben-Hur) and Maximiliano Hernandez (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) have joined the cast of the Stephen King adaptation.

The second season will continue its adaptation of King’s Bill Hodges Trilogy – Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers and End of Watch – and sees the return of Brendan Gleeson as Bill Hodges and Harry Treadaway as Brady Hartsfield. Huston is set to portray Hartsfield’s doctor Dr. Felix Babineau, with Hernandez as Assistant D.A. Antonio Montez.

In the February issue of Town & Country magazine, the 43-year-old actress opens up about her relationship with Holland Taylor as well as her thoughts on having children of her own someday.

"I do not want to be defined by who I share my bed, my home, my soul with," Paulson tells the magazine. "My choices in life have been unconventional, and that’s my business."

Sarah Paulson Says People Find Her Relationship With Holland Taylor 'Fascinating and Odd'
Sarah Paulson admits that her life is rather "unconventional," but that's not because she's dating Holland Taylor.

The 42-year-old actress is featured in Net-a-Porter’s digital magazine, The Edit, and talks about her longtime romance with the 74-year-old actress and their 32-year age difference.

"My life choices are, um, unconventional," she confides. "I’m with a much older person and people find that totally fascinating and odd, and, to me, it’s the least interesting thing about me."

Paulson adds, "But I do feel a bit unconventional."

The Emmy winner shares that when she first started dating Taylor, she was told that it could have a negative impact on her acting career. "Early on, when people found out I was with Holland, some said: 'I think you have to be careful, I’m afraid it’s going to affect your career negatively,'" she recalls. "I was like, 'What?' It never occurred to me at all."
