We’re another week closer to Christmas, and I was very happy to see Frozen take the top spot at the box office this past weekend. In the meantime, this week’s new Trailer Trashin’ examines yet another of next year’s big upcoming films – The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Premise: Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) continues to struggle with balancing his life as a high school student and his crime-fighting responsibilities as Spider-Man. When Peter begins to investigate more about his father’s past, with the help of his friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), he realizes that the new threats of Max Dillon/Electo (Jamie Foxx) and Aleksei Systevich/The Rhino (Paul Giamatti) both have one thing in common – OsCorp.
My take: The most feedback I’ve ever received for an installment of Trailer Trashin’ is still my column from early May 2012, where I examined the final trailer for that summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man, »

“It was the film I wanted to make. Of all my movies, to the people that are fans, it’s almost like a cult religion, they get tattoos and I’m constantly getting long letters from people saying it helped them come to terms with something.” Seven years after the lukewarm theatrical release of “The Fountain,” director Darren Aronofsky looks upon his passion project starring Hugh Jackman as a fulfilling endeavor, but no doubt remains that its path to existence was enormously difficult. Surviving cast and budget changes over many years before it began production, the sci-fi drama retains a backstory to match its ambitious scope—one that filmmaker/photographer Niko Tavernise has put online for interested parties. A friend and collaborator of Aronofsky’s since the director’s first feature, “Pi,” Tavernise has attained a comfortable role and unique, in-depth perspective on the behind-the-scenes workings of each film since then. »

Here are a few more photos released for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Some of them are new, and some of them aren't. They feature Spider-Man, Stan Lee, and Paul Giamatti, and one of them even teases the Sinister 6.
The stuff footage we saw of this movie at Comic-Con was pretty insane, and it looks like this is going to be such a great sequel! I'm crazy excited to see this thing!
Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, »

After exactly 100 days of shooting, principal photography has wrapped on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. To celebrate the occasion, director Marc Webb sent out a brief video featuring Andrew Garfield perched atop a building in downtown NYC. In addition, we also have photos from Days 97, 98, and 99 of production, along with the filmmaker's tweet announcing that shooting has ended, and a few shots of crew members from the set. Actor Dane DeHaan, who plays Harry Osborn in the sequel, also sent out a tweet confirming that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be coming to San Diego Comic-Con 2013 next month. Now that shooting is over, will you miss this barrage of photos from the set? If you want to go through all of these photos again, we have the entire gallery below as well.

Godzilla hits theaters in 3D, May 16, 2014.
I mostly just want to see Cranston in the film. Cranston and Watanabe are the most exciting actors attached to the film, though the addition of Sally Hawkins is easily third.
