Travelers: Netflix Sci-Fi Series with Eric McCormack Begins Production

Netflix and Showcase have announced the start of production on the new original Travelers TV series. The time-traveling sci-fi drama is shooting on location in Vancouver. Travelers is produced by Peacock Alley Entertainment Inc., in association with Showcase and Netflix.

The Travelers cast includes: Eric McCormack, Mackenzie Porter, Patrick Gilmore, Jared Abrahamson, Nesta Cooper, Reilly Dolman, J. Alex Brinson, Arnold Pinnock, Dylan Playfair, and Ian Tracey. Travelers is written, created and produced by Brad Wright. Nick Hurran is directing the pilot. Andy Mikita, Helen Shaver, Martin Wood, Will Waring, and Amanda Tapping will also direct in the first season.

‘Stargate SG-1’ creator, Eric McCormack launch Netflix time travel series

Another day, another time travel series announced. The trend of timey-wimey TV doesn’t seem to be getting erased from existence any time soon. Will & Grace alum Eric McCormack will star in a new sci-fi series called Travelers on Netflix, the streaming service announced on Tuesday. Netflix is making the project in partnership with Canadian broadcaster Showcase. Travelers (not to be confused with the excellent and short-lived 2007 thriller series Traveler, if any of y’all remember that) comes from Stargate SG-1 creator Brad Wright, and among the cast is Stargate alum Patrick Gilmore. Here’s the full premise — Quantum Leap but with more social media and more FBI: Hundreds of years from now, the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. Van Helsing: Syfy Series Casts Kelly Overton as Lead

Per The Hollywood Reporter, True Blood's Kelly Overton has been cast as Vanessa Helsing, the lead role in Syfy's upcoming Van Helsing TV series. True Blood veteran Christopher Heyerdahl plays Sam in the new drama thriller, a survivor of the "vampire Rising." The first season of Van Helsing consists of 13 one-hour episodes.

The Van Helsing cast also includes Mad Men's Paul Johansson as the vampire Dimitri. Ray Donovan's David Cubitt is set to play another Rising survivor, John. The Good Wife's Tim Guinee is vampire-soldier, Ted. According to THR, the series has brought on a handful of directors for the first season, including Michael Nankin, Jason Priestley, David Frazee, Simon Barry, and Amanda Tapping. Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev executive produce.
