Maria Tallchief was born on January 24, 1925 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, USA as Elizabeth Marie Tall Chief. She was an actress, known for Ballets Russes (2005), The Kennedy Center Honors: A Celebration of the Performing Arts (1996) and Dancing for Mr. B: Six Balanchine Ballerinas (1989). She was married to Henry D. Paschen Jr., Elmourza Natirboff and George Balanchine. She died on April 11, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Of Osage Native American blood.

Prima ballerina.
Acknowledged as the most technically accomplished ballerina ever produced in America.
Inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1996.
