The Nine Lives of Cat Stevens: Yusuf Islam Embraces His Musical Past on The Laughing Apple

21 September 2017 2:55 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

It’s not quite fair to call The Laughing Apple a comeback album. Since 2006, the artist who beguiled listeners in the ’70s as the spiritually curious Cat Stevens has released three discs under the mononym Yusuf—short for Yusuf Islam, his chosen moniker after adopting the Islamic faith in 1977. These works were his first foray into Western music after shunning the industry in the wake of his religious conversion, during which time he sold his guitars and focused instead on charity work and theological study. Fans were grateful for any new output following the decades of silence, but Yusuf’s »

29 August 2017 10:16 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The animated microseries Star Wars: Forces of Destiny did a great job of including a range of fan favourite characters from across the saga in its eight episode first season. Driven by its female stars, the three-minute installments featured the likes of Princess Leia, Rey, Jyn Erso, Padme Amidala and Ahsoka Tano. Not to mention Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and more in supporting roles. Thankfully, the familiar faces will keep on coming in the upcoming season, as two more big names have been added to the line-up.

Jedi News are reporting that the latest issue of Star Wars Insider features an interview with Lucasfilm Story Group member Cassie Beck, who reveals that both Finn and Han Solo will make appearances in upcoming Forces of Destiny episodes. The good news is that John Boyega will reprise his role as the reformed Stormtrooper. And though Beck didn’t comment on Han’s voice artist, »

Fans of the show will be pleased to know then that season 2 will be just as quick in getting onto our screens. While talking with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Jennifer Muro revealed that Forces of Destiny will return in October. She dropped the news when asked which characters would be appearing in the next run.

“I wish I could tell you! You’ll find out in October. It’s been announced that we’ll see Hera [from Star Wars: Rebels], which will be great. I think people will enjoy seeing the characters in the second season.”

The sequel to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t quite reach the dizzying heights of the first but it is an entertaining, heartfelt and worth addition to the universe.

What ensues is a hilarious opening sequence as the adorable Baby Groot (still voiced and mo-capped by Vin Diesel) proceeds to dance around the danger. Rocket (Cooper perfectly on »

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Review

28 April 2017 8:35 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow: you know these names as superheroes who comprise a team – the Avengers. Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer, Gamora: these are also superheroes who make up a team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. So what – if anything – differentiates these two savior squads? An Avengers film thrills through action, while Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 strikes development depth and marvels at cosmic swirls of psychotropic ether.

By way of sequel furtherment, James Gunn has created far more than an offbeat Marvel franchise. His collection of misfits represent the most personal, emotionally-tethered personas across the entire McU, soulful and composed beyond marketable costumes or A-list names. Soak in the psychedelics, kick out the jams and zoom alongside the galaxy’s zaniest outlaws once again – Vol. 2 rocks with the goofiness of an air-guitar virtuoso, even if storytelling skips a few beats (Nicole Perlman does not return as co-writer).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie review: 2 same 2 spurious

27 April 2017 11:44 AM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

MaryAnn’s quick take… Thinks it’s edgy and transgressive, the punk little brother of all those other stodgy comic-book movies, but it isn’t. It’s just slightly more candy-colored. I’m “biast” (pro): big Sf geek

I’m “biast” (con): wasn’t crazy about the first movie

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

You were insufferable to start with,” groans Gamora, the badass green chick who should be the hero of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, but who must give way to Star-Lord, aka doofy Earther Peter Quill, because he’s the boy and the boy always gets to be the leader, even in space. She says this, rolling her eyes — and oh, I so sympathize with her, and no, that does not make this movie particularly “female friendly” — after a revelation about Peter’s parentage that is at the center of the tedious, »

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 CD Score From Composer Tyler Bates Available On April 28

23 April 2017 1:24 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Marvel Music/Hollywood Records have released the digital versions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 songs-only album and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 original score album by composer Tyler Bates (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “John Wick Chapter 2,” “Watchmen”).

The film opens in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is filled with great action, humor and performances, but it is also infused with a new mixed tape and soundtrack, a dynamic that resonated deeply with audiences in the first film as evidenced by the success of the soundtrack album.  The Grammy-nominated “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack album consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the chart. The album was certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A.

Yes, That’s David Hasselhoff Rapping on the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ Soundtrack (Audio)

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” films are beloved for their eclectic soundtracks, thanks to a heady mix of classic rock, pop, and old-school R&B. We don’t usually praise them for their David Hasselhoff rapping — but here we are.
