Engineer for Federal Aviation Administration before he took up acting.
Was awarded two Bronze Stars and five Purple Hearts for action in World War II.
After his retirement from the Federal Aviation Agency, he co-founded, along with his late wife, Madolyn, the Silver Spring Stage and the Maryland Academy of Dramatic Arts
Appears in bit parts in each of Barry Levinson's first 15 films. Levinson called him his "lucky charm."
Although born in San Antonio, he was reared in New Orleans and Richmond, Va.
